People dig their graves one forkfull at a time.

YIKES!!! Isn't that the truth. I have to nip my behaviors NOW!!! I know that negative motivation isn't the key, however this is a spin on bad eating behaviors, and it brings it to reality. Do I want to supersize that, or do I want to be there when my kids get married?

I know exactly what you mean! I've mentioned before that one of the main motivating factors for me is my family's pre-disposition to Type II Diabetes ... I do *not* want to be Diabetic, and already have blood sugar on the high side.

I don't know if this runs along the same lines as negative motivation, but the other day I was thinking about the fact that I'm going to really have to watch what I eat for the rest of my life if I want to have and maintain any kind of significant weight loss. I was pouting inside, feeling deprived, but then Al Roker popped up on a commercial and I thought about his surgery and the fact that he and all others who've had it (did you hear Anne Rice had it in January?? I didn't even know she was overweight, but I hadn't seen an interview with her in a long time) can only eat tiny, tiny meals for the rest of their lives. If they can do something that extreme, I can limit what I eat, too. For some strange reason, I found that very empowering.

You know what, Princess V? You can dig yourself out of that hole using your fork, too.

How about this quote for motivation:

Forget past mistakes
Forget failures
Forget everthing except what you are going to do now

AND DO IT

...William Durant

I don't who this man is but I like the way he thinks :)

BUT remember that our bodies do need to be fed. Never take something to the extreme. It is more what you eat in the forkfulls. Starving your body the nutrients it needs won't help either. We must do it in a healthy way...OK, getting off my soapbox.....
