I quit 5 years ago so I KNOW how hard it can be. Believe me it's all worth it. Of course when I quit I made DH promise that we would use all the extra money for Disney trips!
Congratulations! I've never smoked, but I had to talk a friend of mine through quitting when he decided to go cold turkey with no aids whatsoever. For a while, he was calling me about every 15 minutes; I can't imagine how unbelievably hard that must be.
Congratulations! Quitting smoking was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. It has been 15 months and it is still day by day. You've done the hard part though. The one thing that keeps me from lighting up is knowing that I'll have to go through withdrawal again!
mickilee - yes I gained some weight (about 10 pounds over the first year and another 2-3 after that) still working to get it off.
I had weird and vivid dreams while on it and I kind of felt like I was on something, I got a little bit of anxiety from it so I stopped taking it sooner than I was supposed to because I did not like the feeling.
Congrats. I have never smoked but have had a lot of family members who used to and have been successful. My one uncle has been smoke free for almost 9 years.
Congratulations I quit Oct 27th of last year and I do know how hard it is, I tried a few times before my success....just think how nice it will be going to WDW and not have to seek out the DSA on your next trip
Congratulations! DH quit cold turkey in August. I urged him to try Chantix but his friend had a very bad reaction to it so he wasn't willing to even try it. He's done great even without help and hasn't had 1 cigarette since! We're so proud of him!! He has gained a few pounds but he also comments on how much better his food tastes
Congratulations to you! That is QUITE an accomplishment.
I can identify because I quit 2 years and 3 months ago. This time the quitting is sticking possibly due to the resolve that there is just no sneaking one. While friends can be casual smokers, it's not the kind of thing I can do.
I'd like you to know that it's super easy not to smoke now. However, every now and again there are triggers that arise. Ya know, those triggers like getting used to driving without smoking, or not having a cigarette after eating. The first time I went to WDW after having quit, I was a little melancholy while passing some of my old stomping ground smoking spots. Those smoking spots were another trigger to overcome These little triggers aren't too difficult to get through but you sure do notice them.
I was a 2 pack a day smoker! I quit cold turkey-15 years ago. I didn't realize it was that long ago until just now! Anyway, congrats to you, stick with it, you made it past the hard part! And think of all the money you'll have!
