I predict...

Like the the Repulicans did in 2000/2001.....2004/5 and lest us not forget on 9/12/01 the Conservative regulars rehashed why Al Gore would have made the entire US of A implode if her were the Presidentom 09/11/01. Thousands of people dying and all they could think about was "neener neener neener"

There is enoough of this type of behavior to go around.

But on the flipside to you post....there is alread talk the the "Obama Recession" has begun.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Again on the flipside of your post...how many days in office does Obama get befor he is blamed for the multiple crisis that are ongoing in the US?

Good Lord.

I don't think I was on the Community Board in 2001 (probably too scared :lmao:). So, I'll have to defer to you on actions that far back.

When to blame Obama? Hmm..well it depends. How long of a grace period do you want to give him before he is accountable for his actions and their effect on the country? Personally, I expect him to be responsible for his actions on day 1, but that might be too harsh and expecting too much.

I haven't seen it called it an "Obama recession". :confused3 It would be tough for someone to call it that, seeing as he hasn't even been sworn in yet.

Regarding the OT, if something about Bush is posted, someone will find a way to trash him. Count on it.

Is there something wrong in doing such a thing? I am just floored by such a comment.

If you see the President's approval ratings you will understand how starting a "President Bush is great" thread may not go over well.

Especially when his approval ratings use to be 60 percentage points higher! Thats an awful lot of people who are disappointed/disgusted with him.

You can insert Obama in place of Bush, it will be jsut as true.

Maybe, but Obama's not the topic of this thread. Bush is.

It is a "the bad people are gonna attack the guy I support" thread. It is pertinent when the attackees are frequently the attackers.

The thread is about behavior. And unless it is understood the the behavior is on both sides of the fence, then it is just whining.;)

This thread was specifically created to talk about reaction to Bush's last speech as president. But, in the spirit of what you're bringing up...

Both sides dish it out and have it given right back. Both sides attack and are attacked.

Now, let's all hold hands and sing "Kum Ba Yah.." ;) :hippie:

Would it be against the board guidelines to do so? Not last I checked.

Why is it bashing to say you think someone did a lousy job?

Pres. Bush is a big boy-if he can't take the heat-don't take the job. Plus according to Sean Hannity:sad2: -he doesn't care about being popular-just doing the "right" thing. So don't worry about it:thumbsup2 .

I have no problem with people saying Bush did a lousy job. I have no problem debating his record. But the absolute trashing, name calling that happens with respect to him is over the top IMO.

Frankly, I have more respect for a politician that follows their conscience (even if I disagree) rather than one that waits for the poll numbers and then falls wherever the polls tell them to land.

Who has hurt feelings? I'm pretty sure the president has thick skin. Then again I don't think he lurks on the DIS lol. If anything people will say it's the best speech he ever gave....;)

We can all come together on being mean spirited reactionaries. I like it.:rotfl2:

...that after President Bush gives his farewell speech Thursday evening, the usual crowd on the CB will have yet another Bash Bush free-for-all. I hope not. All it does it cause hurtful feelings and nothing good comes out of such action.

If you don't want that to happen, why would you start a thread like this? Don't get me wrong. You are well within your right, but its kind of 'NEW' of you not to think you wouldn't get negative responses which would turn your (arguably) good intensions into a mess of a thread. Again, you can start any thread you want, but now you have given non-Bush supporters the thought in their heads. Maybe they (non-Bush supporters) would have been so focused on Obama (be it positive or negative) they wouldn’t even bothered with Bush.

I am never so occupied with Obama (no mater how enthralling he is:thumbsup2) to not notice bonehead manuevors made by GW:lmao: .

And notice how I called his manuevors boneheaded not him:snooty:

Now how can I argue with that logic?:rotfl:

I look at it this way.. When Bush was elected, I gave him a fair chance - and my full support - the same as I will for Obama.. However, Bush then proceeded to do things that literally made me loathe the man and I now have no respect for the man whatsoever.. That is never going to change - in or out of office..

If Obama behaves in the same manner, he will no longer have my support either -and I will be the first one to admit it..

I guess I'm one of the few who still believes that respect must be earned - it's not a birth right, nor does it come simply with being elected president..

If I listen to the farewell speech - or read about it here - then yes, I probably will comment on it - just as I would any other subject.. Last I knew, this was a "discussion board" and that's what people do - discuss things.. I think it's unrealistic to think that people won't discuss it - no matter how they feel about Bush..
