Because i just cleaned out all my drawers and my closet and threw out everything that doesn't fit anymore. I have officially lost 50-lbs! For some reason I was hanging on to all these huge pants and shirts. Why? :confused3 I'm really plannin on NEVER being this big again. I did keep one pair of underwear that I wore when I was at my biggest. It's hanging in the back of my closet and let me tell you, those giant panties are staring out at me every morning :scared1:

Now that I have almost nothing left, I needed new clothes. I'm still losing, got about 30-lbs to go so I don't want to buy a lot. so I went to the thrift store and found 2 pairs of jeans shorts, a couple brand new t-shirts, some khakis and 2 pairs of dress pants for school.:cool1: All for less than $20.

We're going on vacation Monday, so I think i'll run up to Target and see if I can get a few new shirts to wear with my new-looking shorts. :cool2: I wanna look cool!

Good for YOU!!!!:goodvibes

I lost approx 65 pounds a few years ago (70 but gained a few back) it took months for me to get rid of clothes scared i would gian it back. BUT with moving I dumped EVERYTHing and started fresh. I had sewn a few smaller while I was losing but after a while all I could think of was fat so they all went.

Wow, I'm so proud of both of you! Have fun shopping for your new you!

I think part of my difficulty with getting rid of the fat clothes is that I don't really identify with my new body yet. I feel self conscious in clothes that actually fit and show off my body. I think i've been using big clothes(and big body!) to hide from the world. You know, I realized that when you're fat people don't really see you. It's like you become invisible. I only had one person ever say anything negative about my weight to my face(and my mother doesn't count!) So it was never anything overt. It was in the way people avert their eyes or turn slightly away, so as not to acknowlege you. Maybe you never sensed that, but somehow I bought into the idea that i WAS invisible, that i DESERVED to be invisible because i was fat. :sad2: Good lord, I sound like a nutcase.

anyway, there was something cathartic about holding the fat clothes in my hands and making a decision with each one to send it elsewhere. I haven't actually got them out of the house yet, but i promise they will be leaving in the morning. It feels scary, like I'm in uncharted waters. My old fat clothes represent safety. Without them to hide behind I'm going to have to be "real" and "present" in my life. Two things that I'm not used to.

<sigh> Methinks there is a lot of work to do here...

When was the last time you were at your current weight, Minky? I was this size (and even a little smaller) not too many years ago, and still have some of the smaller clothes from before.

It's been probably 7-8 years.Actually the last 15 years have been pretty difficult. I was never overweight until my youngest son, Christian, was born in 1995. After he was born the weight started creeping up. Then DH became disabled about 7 years ago....hmmmm, I think I just made a connection here....

Wow! I just noticed your ticker--way to go! You're my inspiration.:goodvibes

That's awesome! Keep it up! I've been getting into shape this year and the fat has been slowly coming off and my muscles are firming and growing. I guess there's something wrong with me, but weight loss is not my goal and I'm not looking forward to having to buy new clothes. I feel crazy saying that, but it's true! I just wanted to be in great shape and feel better with more energy and stamina and that is going very well. But the other week, I really started noticing the body changes and that clothes were fitting more loosely.
