I Planned and God Laughed **NEW Pre-TR Link!!! p.13**

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for all of your replies! I cannot believe I already have 2 pages and I've only done the intro! :goodvibes

Last I left you, I had surprised my mom by pulling into the Beach Club. She was thrilled and still in shock, I think, as we self-parked the car and got out. We opted to leave our bags in the car just in case our room wasn't ready. When we got up to the front doors, I walked up to a CM and introduced myself. He greeted us and whisked us upstairs to the 5th floor…not only had I upgraded to the BC, I had upgraded to Club Level! Surprise again!

So we were ushered into the elevator and were quickly checked in – our room was ready! We were on the 5th floor (all the club level rooms are on this floor). I had requested a full balcony and to be near the lounge (for all the drinks and snacks). And I got it! Our room was directly over the front doors to the resort. To the right was the BCV and if we leaned a bit, we could see the fireworks from Illuminations! Bonus!

Since our room was ready, we hoofed it back to my car to get our luggage and then walked back to the room. We decided to take full advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a dip in Stormalong Bay! We changed into our swimsuits, grabbed our noodles and headed down to the pool. After finding some lounge chairs, we got some lunch at the pool bar/restaurant, Hurricane Hanna’s. I had a hot dog and cole slaw. Mom had a burger and fries. Okay, I had a couple of her fries too. Bellies full, we were ready to swim! Except the water was freezing! Maybe to out of state folks it felt good, but to us Floridians, it was brrrrr….cold! But I was determined to use that pool so I gradually worked my way in and once I was in, it felt great! It took mom a little while longer (2 laps for me around the lazy river), but eventually we were both in and just enjoyed floating in a circle. Man, I love that pool.

We swam for a couple hours or so, and then headed upstairs. But not before stopping in the lounge for a soda, some chips and dip, and a cookie. We changed back into our clothes and walked to the International Gateway at Epcot! We had to exchange our vouchers into actual tickets which took all of 2 minutes and then we were finally in what is probably my favorite park. Our first stop was Japan since I wanted to check out the pick-a-pearl area. There was not much of a crowd at all, but I took a look at the settings before paying for the pearl. I just could not decide what setting I liked, but I picked a pearl anyway.

I ended up with this beauty.

7mm and she called it pink and green, but honestly it looks like your typical white pearl. Apparently that’s a good size, because a couple people came up to me and told me how lucky I was that I had gotten such a large pearl.

So now I had to choose a setting. I couldn’t decide between 2 pendants. They were pretty, but didn’t get me excited. Then I saw 2 pendants that were Japanese symbols. I asked what they meant – one was “Love” and the other was “Longevity and Happiness”. Done! I knew it instantly – the Longevity and Happiness charm would be mine – who doesn’t want to be happy and live a long life, right? Plus I liked that I would always remember that I bought it in “Japan”. It took about 20 minutes to make (just enough time for us to browse the shops and Koi pond).

Soon it was ready! I love it! I wished I had brought my silver chain with me so I could have worn it then and there.

(I'm not going to lie - I took these when I got back home)

Then we slowly walked through WS on the way to Mexico. We had dinner reservations at La Hacienda!

Up Next: Dinner in Mexico and flowers from around the world!

I saw those pearls on Jason's TR and I LOVE what you plan to do with them...made me teary eyed!!!

WOW SHANNON WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!!!

I can't believe you went from POFQ to Club Level at Beach Club! I for sure would be crying over that! When my friend's friend upgraded us to CL at YC, I cried for sure. I kept it a surprise from my brother till we pulled in and they took us up to the top floor.

Congrats on the pearl! The first two I did were both 8+ which is very unusual and those are in a ring and necklace. The one in March..well I'll keep that a secret..even though you probably know haha.

How much was the setting and chain?? My ring was pretty cheap, around $30-40 but my necklace was $150+ and the charm was a Hawaiian/Japanese (I guess haha) setting of a flower.

Can't wait for more surprises, geez!!!

Loved the room - so spacious, and was also really close to the elevators! The pool there is worth at least one night at the yacht or beach club. Assuming it doesn't rain half of your trip :rolleyes1

My mom always said I have champagne taste on a beer budget, but this time I was ALL champagne. :rotfl: I wouldn't be this extravagant on every trip, but it just felt right for this one.

That's a really pretty setting!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks! I love the pendant too! I love how it doesn't look like anything you could pick up at a store back home. And my time is coming  Not sure if anyone is a Bethenny Frankel fan. I am a HUGE fan - loved her on Real Housewives and love her more on her new show. Anyway, she has written a few books and I am reading her newest book, "A Place of Yes" and its pretty much these "rules" for getting everything you want out of life - to be your happiest self. Not sure everything in it applies to me, but it makes me feel good when I read it :thumbsup2

She definitely enjoyed it. Those beds are COMFY! I think the part she enjoyed the most was laying in bed at night, eating dessert, without a 60lb dog hogging the bed, watching TV

I love my pearl and pendant and I think I know what your pearl was :rolleyes1 The chain I had at home so no cost there. The pendant was $29.50 - I think. Something like that anyway. So less than $50 for the pearl and pendant. I think I saw that flower pendant! I loved it both times I saw it too. But it was a little too much. I thought I remembered there being a smaller version, but I didn't see it this time.

No more surprises for this trip unfortunately. But definitely changes in plans - hence the title!

Thanks everyone so much for reading! Tomorrow my mom and I are meeting up at my brother's house to celebrate his birthday - it was Wednesday. We are going to my nephew's baseball game then out to lunch. I will probably be able to finish our first day by the end of the weekend and then my spring break is over and back to work :sad1: But I'll try my best to not keep you all hanging too long between updates!

Upgrading to the BC was a wonderful surprise for your Mom. I hope I can stay there one of these days; it looks awesome. Can't wait to read more. :)

Ok, ya hooked me on your intro! If anyone ever tells you they've never had a "why am I here at this point in my life" moment... they're lying! I'm married and have an awesome DD, BUT... the teaching profession is a nightmare in FL right now, I don't own a home, I never finished my master's degree and my credit score is smaller than my shoe size! Trust me... I have my "moments" too.

I can't wait to join you on this trip report! I will be surprising my MIL in just about a month in very similar ways! :thumbsup2 great start!! -Stace

It is a beautiful resort, and in a great location if you are an Epcot lover like me!

Honestly, nobody is actively trying to set me up with anyone so it doesn't bother me at all...yet

Wow, a first timer! I cannot even imagine what would be going through my head seeing Disney for the first time!

Thanks :goodvibes I completely understand where you are coming from re: the teaching in Florida. I am a speech pathologist in Florida schools and I'm getting out! Seriously, after 3 years, I am done and over it and the new policies the state is putting in place didn't help. I will be starting a job treating adults at a skilled nursing facility in June and I cannot wait. It will be a big change but I think definitely a change for the better right now. And the state wonders why we can't find qualified teachers...they make it sooo appealing :confused3 Are you teaching now? Or looking? Good Luck either way. I still think teachers are completely under-appreciated.

Had a fun day with my niece and nephew today to celebrate my brother's birthday! My nephew hit 2 home runs at his game! We had lunch at 5 Guys (sooo yummy but wouldn't have been my first choice) and then chilled at their house, discussing our next big family adventure to Alaska in 2012, for my mom's retirement! And if you haven't already noticed my new ticker in my signature, I do in fact have another vacation planned for this summer. A cruise on the Oasis of the Seas! Sooo looking forward to it. It will be my last hurrah before starting the new job.

Currently teaching- have been for the past 6 years (high school) I truly love my job- I love teaching/inspiring... but the future (as uncertain as it is; we can all hope it will work out) seems overcast. At a very local level, my administrators at my school are my family- they are awesome- a real feel that says "we're in this together."

Who knows how much it will really change things? But that was sort of the icing on the cake...it was a combination of lots of things district/school wide that I'm over. Book clubs once a week, "having" to be on a committee that has nothing to do with your job description (math? :confused3), enormous amounts of paperwork for things that are done much more simple in private practice and other sectors. I just know I'm ready to move on!

I am....I would LOVE to stay there!:love: But is looks EXPENSIVE. :faint: One of these days!!!! :lovestruc

Sounds like a GREAT day and I DID notice your ticker...I didn't want to ask because I thought maybe I remembered reading this somewhere in the PTR...am I right or confusing that with the Alaska trip?!? You are going to have so much FUN before you embark on the next great adventure in your life! :woohoo::yay::woohoo:

This is a caribbean cruise with my mom...Alaska will be Summer 2012 with my DB, DSIL and their 2 kids! Not THAT will be an adventure!

I am currently shadowing a school OT for grad school (hence my screen name), hopefully i get accepted into a MOT program for next fall. But the OT echoed the same sentiments as you in regards to the paper work and having to commit to things that do not pertain to occupational therapy. Here in Ca, they are giving so many teachers pink slips....it is so sad. By the way, I think SLP are awesome:yay:. My DS has one and I really admire her.

I'm here!!! :yay: A little late but I jumped over from TinkerbellLuvr7's TR. Loving it so far!!! :)

I would definitely cry if I were surprised with Club Level at the Beach Club. :cloud9: I stayed at the Yacht Club Club Level in January and absolutely fell in love with it. I need to do that again one day, it was a dream come true. :wizard:

LOVE Stormalong Bay, that pool is heavenly. :cloud9: I also like that people can't pool hop and go to it, makes it so much more exclusive and fancy-feeling.

Your pick-a-pearl is gorgeous! Love the pendant! I really want to do that on one of my upcoming trips!

Can't wait for more!popcorn::
