I Planned and God Laughed **NEW Pre-TR Link!!! p.13**

Yea, they are not the kindest group. To plan our RV trip I have been on the forums at Trip Advisor and they are the opposite. They want your questions to be as detailed as possible and for everyone to start their own thread, so you never know.
We went with Royal Caribbean, simply because it fit our time frame the best. The kids enjoyed the food, mainly the ice cream.
My DSIL and DN took the train on the way up and biked on the way back. They really enjoyed that. We drove the highway so we were able to stop along the way. But it did make for a long day. Juneua was great for whale watching, we even saw one a little too close (the engine was off). You can book your excursions independently, and that will save some money. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the help! I am so stinkin' excited! But its 420 days away!

I sure agree about some of the people on cruise critic. It's a shame that some rotten apples make the rest of the basket seem smelly too. Not everyone on there is rude though. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I just don't understand it...everyone there should be happy, they're planning a vacation!

Sorry for barging in but I've kept your trip report on my favs but I've never posted on your report. You were asking people about Vancouver, Canada???? All i have to say is it's Beautiful... I have been there on two different occasions and if I didn't not move to AZ I would LOVE to go again.... the aquarium is just awesome and so is Stanley Park. If I can find pictures I will post them for you so you can check them out....

You are not barging in at all! Thanks for reading...and I would LOVE to see those pics. I have no idea how much time we will actually be spending there. Our ship docks early that morning so we will be off by mid morning at the latest. Then, we'll have all day and maybe another full day?

I looked for pictures of Vancouver but it ends up that my pictures are of Whistler and Victoria not Vancouver.... I'm real sorry but take my word it is REALLY nice out there

I'm sorry but it turns out that I do t have pictures of Vancouver I actually ave pictures of Whister and Victoria.... Sorry I really wanted to show you pictures of that beautiful area....

That's okay - thanks for looking though. Feel free to share any pictures though.

Hi everyone! Happy Easter Eve!
Winston and I are down at my mom's so an update will probably not be getting done this weekend. I'm back home Monday so will try to get an update in then! Wishing all of you a Happy Easter - hope the Easter bunny is good to you all. And thanks again for reading!

Oh yes, I've been there! You couldn't be more right - definitely not as friendly and welcoming as the DIS. I have the same screenname there as here, fyi. One thread I saw asked about the best Alaska excursion and her first reply was "go do your research and then come back with more specifc questions". :scared1: I asked which ship was better (of 2 options) and was told to "search it myself". Nice, huh? But I have been getting lots of info just from reading. What cruiseline did you do? We are groing through Princess. We are thinking of the doing the train in Skagway along the Yukon highway (or whatever it is...)

How rude! Isn't that was a board is for? To get opinions. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Happy Easter Shannon! Thought of you guys...wondered if Winston got any Easter Eggs? Thor loves them!

I hope you had a GREAT time today Shannon! :goodvibes

Thanks for the Easter wishes! We did have a great day!

Unfortunately there is tons of info there so they haven't seen the last of me (or vice versa)

Thanks...same to you! The Easter Bunny did not get any eggs this year...or anything at all. Although I'm pretty sure he had a fun Easter anyway.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a Happy Easter and enjoyed the day with your family and friends! As I mentioned earlier, I was down at my mom's house for the weekend - spent way too much money shopping on Saturday and on Sunday (Easter), my brother and his family came over! We did lots of Alaska talking and my niece, nephew and I played jelly bean poker  Then we had a delicious Easter lunch before they hit the road for their 2nd Easter at DSIL's parents house. Fun day all around.

Some pictures...not the best of me, but I'm posting them anyway.

Maybe the couch is a better photo spot?

Much better except for my nephew's "cool" pose

My computer is being super slow right now so I'm not putting my next trip update up right away, but I do have the rest of the day written up.

Sounds like you had a great weekend.

One of my girlfriends lives in Vancouver, so let me know what you want me to find out for you...I haven't been in years so much has changed....she's more than happy to give you advise on hotels, hotspots etc!!! Let me know!

Looks like you had a great Easter!

The trip to Alaska sounds like so much fun!

I left off walking towards our next destination...the GMR! A lot of people do not like this ride, but I love it! I even managed a couple of pictures this time:

Back outside after the rain, still raining…

We browsed through some of the shops (to shop and stay dry) and saw these hilarious shirts:

We soon decided that we were hungry and should get some lunch. We were closest to the Backlot Express so we meandered over there. I had thought the whole restaurant was outdoors/uncovered, but luckily, I was wrong! We picked the perfect time to eat lunch because there was no wait to order and we easily found a table. Once we were done eating, the crowds were really picking up. My mom had a roasted vegetable sandwich which she loved. I had a burger. It was some special that had avocado and “special sauce” on it. I ended up picking most of the avocado off – I swear they must have put an entire avocado on the burger. Plus an entire onion which I also picked off. But the rest was really good!

Back outside with our bellies full, still raining…

More shopping, wandering through the streets of America:

a perfect time to do some "singin in the rain"

**note to self - get outside and get some sun on those pasty white legs!

By this time, our FP for TSM was ready to use…and we once again went up the special FP/2 people staircase and were on the ride in about 5 minutes!

We wandered some more – have I mentioned other than our fave rides, we don’t care for this park? So we stopped for a snack and I had one of the infamous butterfinger cupcakes from Starring Rolls Bakery. It was good…but its very cold when you get it so I’d recommend letting it sit for a minute and letting it soften up. Not quite as amazing as I thought it would be though.

So with it still raining, we opted to head back to the resort. The boats were running, thank goodness so we were back at the BC in no time. For some reason, we felt this was the time to document the towel animals we'd been getting every day:

elephant, mickey head and alligator (a lobster was left the next day)

Once in our room, I immediately took my shoes and socks off to dry, changed into comfy (and dry) clothes and got under the covers. We watched some talk shows and I took a little nap…when I woke up I checked emails on my phone. My friend/new mommy from day 1 emailed some photos to me taken at a hospital photo shoot (do they do that now? These were full on professional, gorgeous shots!) Anyway, the baby is adorable (not that I was surprised), and the new parents look so happy. But, here it comes again…the sad, loser feelings. Seriously? I need to tell my friends not to have babies when I am on vacation next time…

I showered (I was chilly and also wanted to be alone) and got dressed for dinner at Cape May! We had eaten here a couple years prior and it was good but not something we had to repeat every visit. This visit was pretty good – especially when my mom thought it was fun to empty the crab out of the crab legs, but not eat it . I love crab but stink at getting the meat out – so she got me huge pieces of crab! Everything else was good too – beef, mashed potatoes, salad bar, fried shrimp, crab legs, peel and eat shrimp – I think it may have been better than our last visit, but not sure. The desserts were the same as is served up in the CL lounge so nothing extra special there, but they were good! I would eat here if I was a guest at the YC or BC but I, personally, would not make a special trip here for dinner. Unless of course you love mussels and crab legs because you can eat your weight and then some of those items!

We rolled ourselves to the Solarium and I took trip notes for the day and people watched while I tried to get out of my funk (I was hiding it well) – they were going to be having the outdoor movie inside the Solarium since it was still raining out…

We weren't interested in the movie so we went back upstairs to watch Dancing with the Stars and get a good night’s sleep.

Up Next: Dying batteries!

Yay an update! Sorry to hear you had the blues tonight, and you are entitled to that so don't beat yourself up about it. And no Ive never heard of professional pics at the hospital. When my kids were born they take the baby away (a complete stranger comes in, whisks the baby away, and then brings them back after pics are done, hmm, with the crazies in the world now I don't think I would like that!) Your Prince Charming is just waiting around the corner!!!

And hope the rain stopped for you! Our last trip to HS it poured as well!! lol

People don't like GMR? I like it! It is such a fun ride and people I've brought on have enjoyed it. It definitely is one very unique ride, no other ride in Disney like it, where the host interacts with the ride. I love your pictures of Streets of America and the towel animals, very cool and cute :) Cape May sounds like a place I'd definitely want to go to since I love seafood and that seems to be its specialty. Can't wait to hear more! Update ASAP! :mickeyjum

These were definitely not what I'm used to seeing from the hospital! She was in a basket (the baby, not my friend ) for some of them, with a background. Even the pics of mom and dad with baby looked like they weren't taken from her hospital bed (or the bed and equipment were covered up somehow). They were gorgeous though - I'd have a hard time not buying them  My niece and nephew are 8 and 10 and the pics they had taken were just generic swaddled pics with a generic baby background.

As I said before, my mood changes with the wind. I'm totally okay with being single right now, but then I'm around people or hear about things that remind me that I don't have that. But I know I'm not the only person that feels this way or is in a similar situation...even though sometimes it feels that way.

Yes! I have read it many times - its outdated and cheesy, but to me, that's what I like. Plus I guess I like most of the movies they "show". If you like seafood, then cape may is for you!

I don't know how I missed your trip report. I got a good belly laugh out of your title! So, I am late, but let me comment for the fun of it.

Sorry about your funk. My SIL went through that a couple of years ago. We are the same age and very good friends. She finally met her Mr. Right (I'm trying to think of him as Mr. Okay instead of Mr. Wrong. He took a job in CA and she agreed to move out there. UGH. Anyway, their plan is to move back here as soon as they can...)

Love that you surprised your mom! I need to go back and read your TR!

Isn't the secret entrance to WS the coolest? Everytime we entered there this past summer, it was like a private entrance!

SAB is cool, but finding seats can be annoying.

Sorry for the pain of FCAT; in PA we have PSSAs but they don't count towards promotion of grades or graduation. It is a huge problem especially at the 11th grade level because we have to "sell" it to the kids. We haven't been such great salesman :rotfl: (and we have some kids below level) as we are deemed a failing school as we haven't made adequate yearly progress (ever.) Maybe this year!! :cheer2: Sorry for the tangent.

I am glad you are making a move out of a bad system. Reading the Dis is worrying me because teachers in every state are in an unfortunate predicament. I do love teaching, though.

Great way to make the best of a rainy day. Our first trip was with Tropical Faye! I love that you just enjoyed the resort!

I didn't need to know that the Swolphin has a gift shop that sells Vera :lmao:

How wonderful that your family is having an exciting trip to Alaska!

Okay, so I've rambled enough!! :flower3:
