I pity the fool that doesn't have ADRs....

I just called and tried to change some and add some.

I couldn't get Planet Hollywood on a wednesday or friday night, anytime at all.
I couldn't get LTT or Concourse on 2 different nights.
Also couldn't get a few others.
It is sooooo packed!!

The CM read me all my ADRs. She noticed that we had a lunch at PT at 12:00, and a supper at PT at 4:00, on the same day. One for 4, and one for 8. She asked why, and I told her that I made the one for 4 first. Then our inlaws planned to come, so I made the one for 8.
But, my inlaws may be cancelling their trip now, so I am holding them both until next week when I know for sure. Then I will cancel one for sure.

She said it should be safe since they are different times, but if you have any at the same time, that the 'higher ups' are going through and seeing if people are doubles booked. If they do, they are going to cancel some.
Because so many people are trying to get ADRs, and they are so full.

She doesn't know if they will call you, or just cancel one or what. I just thought I would pass on the news.

Being a disney veteran, I always make adrs. Called at 180 for xmas trip 12/23-12/28 and got everything I wanted (DDP) including Le Cellier xmas eve(without CP package-we did it last year and the previous one, but just decided to skip it this year), 1900 PF for breakfast xmas day and Boma for xmas dinner. Two days later we called to see about adding CG and couldn't get anything(we ate there last xmas at 9:00pm, but couldn't even get that late). I'm staying with all our adrs and can't wait.

RFC in DTD does not take ADR's right?

That settles it. I'm eating counter-service or in my room. Yikes. I wonder if free dining messes up their cash in-take in the restaurants. We're not on the dining plan and reports like this discourage me from even thinking about making an ADR.

i sure hope they call before they cancel people's ADRs willy-nilly...

for our upcoming trip, we often have dinner at two different restaurants booked the same night and i have no intentions of canceling either of them! now, before the flames come, we have a grand gathering... 12 of us are staying onsite, a few are staying offsite... some nights i have a table of 6 in epcot and 8 in dtd or 4 for breakfast at CMs and 5 for lunch two hours later, same restaurant... we will be eating some (very few actually) meals together, but most apart (based on group, interest, etc) but i made ALL the ADRs! so, to a computer or "higher up" (whatever that means LOL) it may look like i'm double and triple booked, but i'm very much NOT... although rarely does the number of people on the meal ressie match the number of people in our grand gathering 'cause of the offsite plus the GG #s fluctuate during the week w/some comings and goings...

i have spoken to numerous CMs about this and have been assured we'd be fine... does anyone have any REAL ACTUAL EXPERIENCE of having "duplicate" ADRs cancelled?

I totally agree. When we were at Mama Melrose's last week waiting for our table, they turned away 5 people looking for a table without a ressie.

Keep in mind that Disney sets aside quite a few tables at each venue for 1.) folks that they check-in on property and need dining arrangements and 2.) walk-ins.

My friend went last year during free dining and didn't know about ADR's in advance. When she checked in at Pop, the CM asked her if she had any dining needs. She was able to book lot's of places at check-in, including Coral Reef and Alfredo's.

Folks that multiple book make me :headache:! Pick a place already and cancel the rest!

I don't think this is accurate anymore. It doesn't make sense to me that so many people find it difficult to book months in advance, but walk-ups and resort guests checking in that day have availability. I think this might have been true in the past, but the advance ADR seems to be a requirement today.

ALL I have to say is

THANK YOU DIS!!! :grouphug:

I learned of the "late re-opening" of Teppenayaki just yesterday here on the DIS and Finally got a new reservation after trying to replace it for another dinner in Epcot.
It was NOT easy and actually we took the latest lunch (4pm) just to get in at San Angel. ( I tried more than 4 places the same day and some were for 9:30 dinner, SO NOT OUR STYLE!)

If we could all remind everyone out there to PLEASE CONTINUE TO ASK everyone to seriously consider cancelling your ADR if you know you are not going to show. Perhaps someone else will be able to walk in or better yet, actually get the "unused" ADR. (thanks for the vent!)

I agree it is difficult to get ADRs for Aug/Sept. I made mine many months ago, but making some adjustments has been difficult. I too need to replace a Teppanyaki dinner which is on my anniversary. The CM suggested the buffet at Fort Wilderness...ummm...no thanks!:confused3

I'm not looking forward to having to make adr's so far in advance. i was hoping to have a little more flexibility in my vacation and i hate the idea that i'll have to plan to be somewhere at a specific time (in addition to shows, etc.) A friend of mine went in april and only made adr's a few weeks in advance and she was able to get everything she wanted.

We're leaving tomorrow and only have LeCellier booked. My kids don't want to vacation according to our ADRs!!

Thats my DH greatest gripe about the Dining situation. But, I like to have them since I really dislike the fast food route/counter service day after day. So, I really try and keep to our normal "family meal times" one sit down a day, And if we can' t make an ADR, we simply cancel without a thought.

I must say that last year we had a VERY difficult time eating ANYWHERE for dinner from 5-7 pm while at Epcot and literally had to leave and go back to the resort (ate at Boatwrights, there were wonderful about situation, YUMMY too!). No walk ups anywhere in addition to having a picky eater, NIGHTMARE!
By the way we had our ADR's at the 190 but NEVER thought to check the difference with the lunch to dinner menu at San Angel and there was nothing for the kid he'd eat, learned the lesson the hard way, but it worked out okay....though we were starved and ate WAY more than usual, LOL:rotfl2:
Have a wonderful time!!

I called around a week ago for Boma's last Saturday (5:00-ish). I was very surprised to have easily gotten an ADR. Boma's opens at 4:30 on Saturday and the place was not even half full. That surprised me. But it was full or nearly full by the time we left, around 45 minutes later.
We walked in to Boma a couple days ago and were told there was availability, gave us a buzzer and told us to have a seat. We sat down and began to discuss whether we should go have a gander in the lobby while we waited. Before the question was answered the buzzer went off.

Seriously, we didn't wait 2 minutes.

Although you can be turned away from restaurants without an ADR (especially Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace), you can often get in. And if you aren't too picky about where you eat, you can almost always find somewhere to sit down.

I keep saying this, but I rarely know I'm going 2 weeks before I leave, much less 180 days  and I have yet to starve at WDW.

Just got back from a trip that we had about 3 days' notice for and we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern, San Angel Inn, Restaurant Marrakesh, the Biergarten, Garden Grill and Kona Cafe. We also saw the Hoop-Dee-Doo. Except for the Plaza in the MK, we ate exactly where we wanted when we wanted to eat.

Could someone tell me what the CP package at le cellier is please :confused3:
CP is the Candlelight Processional - a Christmas thing at Epcot. You can get tickets bundled with a meal. :)

We did this last December - booked it just a few days (maybe a week) ahead at Restaurant Marrakesh.

Le Cellier is a fine restaurant, but DISers tend to make more of it than it is, IMO. I wouldn't have a problem eating there again, but it isn't one of my favorites at Epcot and I certainly wouldn't cry into my pillow if I wanted to eat there and found it booked. But, that's me.

DisneyHumbug, Have a great trip! Im sure ya all wont starve! lol

Let us know if you were able to get any TS ressie while you were there.

I think during FREE dining it will be more difficult to get any TS.

Me and DH are bustin, a gut over the title of this thread!!!!
LOL!

Yes, but is the same true during the free dining period? I have been calling every week to change times for a few of our ressies (doubt kids will be ready to eat dinner at 3:45pm), and everything I have requested has been booked with the exception of a few 8:45pm or 9pm slots---too late for a 3 and 1 yr old.

It may be more difficult during free dining....but you may want to consider those 3:45 times - if you have a snack mid morning and then snack in the evening it can work quite well. I know it is not "normal" dinner times, but it is vacation!

I pretty much ALWAYS travel without ADRs. It's not a big deal. There are very few places I can't get in. LeCellier comes to mind and based on my last visit I don't think I am missing much. Hopefully this years CP will be better.....(CRT probably but I can't imagine I would ever want to LOL!)

I am flexible. I don't have to have lunch at noon or dinner at 6.

A few months ago I walked into Jikos.....
