After six long years of paying over $380 a month, my Chrysler Towne and Country is finally mine. I just feel like this moment needs to be shared.:dance3:
Now it's time for the thing to start breaking down!:lmao:

Now is the time to set up a special account and keep making the monthly payments. That way you will build up for a new car when you need it, or for significant repairs if needed.

Great advice!

When I paid off my car two years ago, I heard many people tell me to do this. Guess what I didn't do? Yup. When it came time for me to replace my car early spring, I completely regretted not saving up those "car payments" each month. I definitely have learned from that mistake!

And congrats on paying it off - it does feel really good!

Congratulations!

Our car has been running *better*, the closer we've gotten to paying it off. And we're just a moment away from that so it's been awesome! :)

I did this, too. Great way to be prepared in case of an emergency!

Isn't it such a great feeling? We recently just paid off our car. The sad thing is, the minute we did, I was ready for a new one. LOL

I just made the last payment on my 2005 Highlander. As another poster mentioned, I just sending the payment to myself so that when I have to get another car, I have a decent downpayment.

I was going to say the same thing. If you can hold on to your car another 4-6 years you will be able to pay cash for the new one and save yourself a LOT of money.

Holy cow that price for 6 years, OUCH!!!! No wonder you are Glad that is over....

Keep it forever. My 87 Suburban has been paid for for 20 years. Even now that it is 23 years old, repairs only set me back about what 2 months car payments would be every year. Only real issue now is getting parts. Had to wait a week for a new regulator when the tailgate power window failed, but the parts are there is you can wait.

Yes, that is super advice. I am going to wait until September though. I'm a teacher and I'm giving myself the summer off from car payments, lol!

It was a hefty payment to make. We bought it because we were forced to and had zero money to put down on it. I don't ever want to be in that position again. And I will drive this thing into the ground! The A/C just went, but I'm not going to pay the $1,100 to fix it. I can certainly live without it. Other than that it's in awesome shape and it only has 60,000 miles despite being driven (from Buffalo) to Florida, Tennessee, Boston, Chicago, and Atlanta. It's a good minivan.

Thanks for all of the congrats! I was afraid this post would get no replies because it's kind of a boring topic, but you're all just such nice people! :goodvibes

WOW!! Think of all the money you have saved over the years by not needing to have the "newest" car. That is really awesome and admirable.
