I am still torn about getting an IPAD and have a few questions.

Size - 16GB or 32GB - which would you recommend and why

Wifi or Wifi with cell access - why or why not?
How much do the data plans for these run per month?

Thanks in advance!

I would get the 32 gb. I have the 16 and I ran out of space really quickly just using normal apps.
I got the cellular because we travel a lot. If you buy the iPad from best buy or apple not from a cell carrier you can add them on a month by month basis if you want.
We pay $10 a month plus tax on AT&T.

Any other questions ou have I can answer. I have one and so does my husband. I have a 2 and he has a 3. My dad has the latest one

I agree, get 32 GB.

The cost of a cell plan depends on your carrier and what plan you choose.

I have an iPad with just wi-fi; when the next iPad is released I'm passing mine on to my grandson and will get one with 4G. I thought because I have an iPhone that I wouldn't need an iPad 4G, but I have been spoiled by my iPad's larger screen.

If you can afford it, 32 GB.

Mine doesn't have wi-fi and I've never really noticed the lack (but I also have an iphone for when I do need info out and about). The only time it's been an issue is if my son wants to use it somewhere where there is no wifi - he doesn't understand why some apps work and some don't (to be honestly, I'm not 100% sure why either for some of them).

It depends what you are going to be using it for. If you want to put movies and music and pictures on it get the 32 GB. If you just want to use it for games, books, and internet 16 GB would be fine.

I don't think you should do cell phone service unless you don't have wifi at your house.

I don't think it is worth it for 3G unless you will be using it at places that don't have wifi. I just use mine at home and we have wifi. But that is a personal opinion.

I agree with everyone else, get the 32gb unless you are only going to use it for a few apps and web access. We have a 32 and 16. The 32 is my daughters. It has music, movies and apps and is completely full. Anytime she wants something new on it I have to delete something first. The 16 we use for controlling our home automation system and Internet access and it works fine for that (though this one is 16 only because we won it, if I would have bought a second one I would have gotten the 32). We only have wi-if on both and don't miss having 4G on it at all. We just use our iPhones if we don't have wi-if access. If we didn't have the phones I probably would have gotten the 4G.

I agree with pps, get the bigger memory!
I just have the wifi and it is fine for my uses, all depends on how you use it. Dh uses his with wifi only as well amd just uses his phone as a hotspot when he needs it. Most of the time we don't miss it. If you travel alot with it , will use it mostly commuting and for the internet or if the places you go don't generally have wifi, you might want the cell.

Thanks everyone.

ONe more question - is the Ipad Mini worth it? It is so much cheaper but I wonder if it will be as useful??

Thanks everyone.

ONe more question - is the Ipad Mini worth it? It is so much cheaper but I wonder if it will be as useful??

I got an iPad mini for Christmas. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It has the 64g memory and 4g.

I had the first generation IPad with 3G and 32g memory before.

I bring the mini with me just about everywhere! I love the size. It is so much lighter and easier to carry and fit into my purse than before. I can do everything that I did on my other iPad. Even with the case I bought, it is about the size of a trade paperback..but, not as thick, of course. I love reading books and magazines on it, etc. I was worried about, the size and watching a movie or show on it, but have since done it many times and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We have the newer share plan with Verizon and we are a family with 7 phones, so this was our 8th device on the plan.
For me I like the 4g because I use it in the car for long trips, at school gyms for long tournaments that we go to regularly, hotels that charge a wi-fi fee., etc.
With that said, you could get away with not having the 3G or 4g service with so many places offering free wi-fi. I just knew from my past use, especially at schools...that I wanted to have it. I do try to access free wifi whenever possible.

I got the largest memory, because on the 32g I couldn't fit the entire season of Downton Abbey last year that I wanted to download before a trip I was taking. So I wanted to avoid a similar issue.

If you can, visit the Apple Store and play with all the different types to get a good feel.

Good luck and have I mentioned how much I LOVE my mini??

Depends on what you are using it for. To me it just looks like an oversized iPhone, but barely. I am thinking mfg getting one for my daughter who will be 3 just because it is something she can carry. For watching movies or a lot of web browsing I would not recommend it just because the screen size would wear on you after a while.

It is easy to tether your ipad to your iPhone and use the data from your iPhone.

I have a 32gb ipad 2.

I now wish I had gotten the 64gb. You can't add memory! That is the biggest downfall of the iPad.

Now, if I were the only one using it, I may not need the 64gb but my kids have games on it and those games take up tons of memory. We are constantly uninstalling to add new games.

I only have wifi. I really don't have a need for 4g. We are almost always in some sort of service available.

I have not tried tethering with my iphone and am a little concerned that Straight Talk would dump me as a customer as I have heard stories, but my DH has regular ATT contract service through work so I may try it on our next Disney trip with his iphone through ATT.

We have an I-Pad with just wifi but it works great for us as I can turn my I-Phone in to a personal hot spot any time I want and use the data plan under our cell phone when/if I need to!

We got one for Christmas and its a 16. I don't keep a ton of apps or we delete the ones we are bored with. So far memory hasn't been a problem.

We just have wifi and it works for us. I mainly use it in our house or where there is wifi available but if I need it in the car (for maps, etc..) I just use the personal hotspot from the iphone.

I have the ipad mini 32gb and I have all 3 seasons of Downton Abbey on it. Granted they are the regular and not the HD version. The HD version wouldn't fit :) I did try though.

Aha...l.maybe I was recording the HD versions! Although that was my 1st generation iPad, that I had The issue with. I haven't yet had a prob on my mini. Good to know that....thanks :-)
