I just ordered me a new personalized license plate on thursday, it is to say DZNYNUT. I got a letter in the mail on sat saying they got my order, but it could be considered offensive, so it has to be reviewed by a committee before they will make it. Can you belive that Disney Nut could be considered offensive?? Or is it really?? I have a Mustang Cobra as well and my plate reads-URSNKB8-You are snake bait-and they made that one right up. I would think that is more offensive than Disney Nut. It will go to the review board on thursday, then they will notify me if i can have it. Should i go with that one, or pick another. I just wanted a change from WDW LVR, some people cant figure it out, they think widow lover or window lover. What do you think??

:UPDATE:

5/18- I just called and the special plate dept said my plate was approved for production.

Can you believe it had to be reviewed???

It's very unfortunate today that almost anything (or everything) can be made out to be offensive to someone. Granted that some people are abusive with the things they put on their plates or pictures or sayings on their vehicles. But I can't see how your plate would offend anyone. I doubt that most people would be able to make out what you are tyring to say.
Good Luck.

They may think you are saying, "Dizzy New York Nut."

Which may also be true ;) but might be seen as offensive or antagonistic (or "fightin' words") to some.

As you found out with your WDW plate, abbreviations are only good when you KNOW what they mean.

This is a stretch, but I'll bet they think some might read in an off-color interpretation.

I bet they'll approve it there -- anything with nuts in it probably gets looked out!!:earseek: :p

That is too bad..small minds can see offensive things in anything sometimes..Hope they let you have your plate

Good thing that committee doesn't review our names here before we sign up! Probably 95% would be under question. And the committee might think we sure have alot of "window freaks" here!:earboy2:

Window freak... that's good stuff...

I don't think we have the same screening process here in FL, I have seen some very suggestive plates (nothing outright obscene, but close).

Wow. I can't see how that would offend anyone. I am trying to even be like, perverted and think of off color remarks with the word nut in it and maybe I'm like, overly wholesome or something, but I can't think of anything!

I was once told that I could not have my friends name put on her Mickey ears I was bringing back for her because I asked to have her last name which is what she went by, whateveryone including her own family called her by etc. Anyway, the last name is "Hakala" which is a fairly common last name. I think it means something like friendship in Finnish or something. (Not sure what it actually means but it certainly isn't something offensive). Anyway they told me that they would not put it on the ears because it might be offensive to forgieners visiting WDW.

Eventually they brought a manager to me, and needless to say my friend now has Hakala on her Mickey ears.

In fact, I think I'm going to post a thread about this.

There are rules about the Mickey ears. They won't put Disney character names on them either (character integrity and consistency reasons). A friend of mine has a sister named Pocahontas, who had a very hard time getting her name on her hat (didn't help that her nickname is "Pokey"...)

Really!? Wow. I know two women named Esmeralda (I'm not one of them) and a little girl named Aurora.

I don't think I would think a lot about it. In this world of computers we live in and the filters people use, it may be an automatic response because of the word NUT. This could have a sexual meaning and the computer doesn't determine how it is used, it just picks it out and sends up the flag. Now I could be totally wrong.

I had DMN LAMA for a year and the DMV didnt catch it but the President of the Christian Co. I work for noticed it right away...Luckily he has 2 small children and liked the movie as much as I did.

I must be slow, but I don't see anything even remotely offensive about it. But then, I would never have thought you were a Widow Lover (or window lover), either.

I did see a license plate once that said OJDDIT. Took me a while to realize it said "O.J. Did It" While admittedly it was very funny, it was an accusation against a man proclaimed "innocent", and one that everyone in the country knows. I would think DZNYNUT would pass easily.

What naughty saying do they think it might be?

of course it could be considered offensive, it is a possibility, not that i agree with it that someone might take it as the other kind of nut not crazy and not food but one where the kiddies come from?!!! duhhh dznynut is real close to a popular phrase deeznutz.

I have never heard that phrase.

I have never heard that phrase.

Well, as a public service, everyone should be reminded that if you go around talking about your nuts all the time, not everyone is going to think you are talking about almonds and cashews.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Anyway, like I said, it will probably be approved. The word nuts just, as someone else said, raised a red flag.

Good heavens. Are we that unable to deal with our own language? Unbelieveable that it would be considered offensive in any way.

Anyhow..........giving this a bump over to the CB. It's not quite on topic for TPA&S.

I don't think they knew what the tag acutally says.

I saw a tag this weekend and wondered if it was a fellow DIS'er. It was a Fulton County tag and the tag read WDWPRO.

I do think that's crazy. There's a wee bit too much PC going on.

As an aside, I just became the WDW LVR in my state last week! Already somebody asked if I was a widow lover!  Geesh.

Good luck, I hope you get it!

If the plate had said DZNYNUTZ or NUTS I could have almost seen it, but it wasn't even plural.

Can we not even use the word nut anymore without if having naughty connotations!?!?
