I'd definitely recommend the Crystal Palace. It's a tradition for us to eat our last dinner of the vacation there. The character interaction is good for the kids and adults alike. The buffet is kept nice and clean and there's always been a wide variety of foods to choose from. The fire roasted corn spoon bread is simply delicious.
Personally really not a fan of the Ohana breakfast, but I am trying the dinner this year. The Crystal Palace breakfast is a must for us. Don't forget about the surronding resorts as well. What about Chef Mickeys? We are trying the Grand Floridian Cafe this year too.
Chef Mickeys for dinner or breakfast! Its a classic! The fab 5 characters! And the food is good! And it is in the Contemporary... the originaly Disney hotel!
I'd say either Chef Mickey's or the Crystal Palace! Chef Mickey's has Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Pluto. The Crystal Palace has Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore.
FYI, there have been a lot of recommendations for the Crystal Palace, which is a great restaurant. However, it will be closed January 3 to February 13 for refurbishment.
Considering Crystal Palace will be closed then and LTT will have characters, I'd recommend that for dinner! We went twice when there were characters there and LOVED it!
Chef Mickey's is great at dinner too and fun!
This year we'll be trying 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian (also on the monorail route from MK). Dinner has Cinderella characters. Breakfast has Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, and Mary Poppins. Everyone says they are both great meals!
I'd vote for Ohana or Boma for dinner! If your looking for a character breakfast, I would consider Chef Mickey's. Crystal Palace is our favorite but Chef Mickey's is a lot of fun.
If you can get an early seating, I vote for California Grill. The food is excellent and the kids will enjoy seeing the view of the MK. With an early seating you'll miss out on the fireworks (you can go back up later) but the kids won't be so tired that they get cranky during the meal.
I would avoid Cosmic Ray's Cafe for counter service since there are different lines for different food. With young children, that might be a challenge. Also, Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner has all you can eat mac and cheese
CM is a classic. I haven't been there in years, though. If you can't get an ADR, I'd try 'Ohana's bfast- it has good food and character interaction, plus it is convenient to MK. TTS, if you are tryingto stay in or around MK, is pretty good. It is cute inside and has Olive Gardenish food.
Chef Mickey's was great for our kids. Food was not spectacular, but you're going for the characters.
Liberty Tree Tavern which will be a character meal from 1/3 - 2/14/2010.
O'hana's for breakfast if they like Lilo and Stitch.
1900 Park Fare Supercallifragilistic Breakfast. We've always had positive experiences here, but there have been a lot of negative reviews.
Beach Club Breakfast Buffett at Cape May Cafe (Minnie, Goofy and Donald: characters are subject to change) might also be a bit of a hike depending on where you are staying.
What about the castle? I'm sure your DD would love it. How about do it for dinner so it's not all about the princesses. Otherwise, I would say Chef Mickey's!!!
You're right! CRT for dinner would be perfect! The only princess you meet is Cinderella before you're seated, so your DS's won't feel too out of place. Besides, it's SO neat to say you're eating in the Castle!
I would also recommend Chef Mickeys. My DDs love it.
If you are there for dinner, The Hoop Dee Doo Revue is so funny. My DD loves to tell people that she is 8 years old and she has seen it 8 times.
