I never win, but I did this time!

Hi All,

Just had to share my excitement! Last week I entered a trivia drawing on our local Fox channel website, one of the prizes was a Disneyland Getaway. Thought nothing of it really as I never seem to win anything. So today, after we got home from celebrating Thanksgiving I realized I had not checked the mail yesterday. I did so and had an envelope from the Fox station. I chalked it up as junk mail and opened it, and I won! Not a huge prize really but I won a one night stay at a Disneyland Resort, two day park hoppers for four people, and a character meal for four people. What fun! I was so shocked and am so happy.

How can you say that it's not a huge prize? I entered the drawing too, not thinking of looking up the question online before hand, but oh well. My DM usually enters the Fox contests, but missed this one. I was suprised when she won 2 tix to see Body Worlds @ the Science Center & the season premiere of Bones (before it aired on TV) from a Fox contest. Well, I hope you and your compadres have a swell time! I would love to have all that yummy food from your character meal.

I posted that last weekend so that everyone from California could have a chance to win that same Fox contest you are referring to! I was hoping it would be someone from DISboards!!! Yay!!! I wanted to win it so badly, but I am so glad that someone from DISboards won! It is a GREAT package they gave away!!!! Congratulations!

congrats!! my fiancee and i sometimes go to a local sports grill for monday night football. every monday at half time they have the "cheesey halftime giveaway". the owner basically goes to target and buys some cheesey little prizes like lightbulbs or plain t-shirts, or fly swatters etc... also gives away beer coupons for the place and stuff like that.
this past monday we actually both won!! it was great. i got camp rock hair extensions, a plain white t shirt, and a beer! my fiancee got 2 beer coupons and a fanny pack!

sorry to hi-jack your thread but i totally understand what it's like to never win something, then when you do, no matter what the prize is, it's such an awesome feeling!!

I think an overnight stay at the DLR is a great prize, even if you live locally.

I have stayed at the hotels, & I live in Carson. There's just a different feel when you get to go back to the hotel after a day in the parks instead of going home.

You are right! Any of the individual parts of the prize would be worth winning separately. The four 2-day Park Hoppers would be a fantastic prize all on their own. A night at one of the hotels would be great on its own. And the character meal of your choosing for four people is definitely worth its weight in gold! That is not cheap! I mean, it's not a 7-day, all-expenses paid trip to WDW, but I think it is a huge prize by of DLR standards!!

I thought I found it because of the DIS boards but then last night I was looking for the thread and couldn't find it, so I thought I imagined it! hehehe Must have missed in my excitement. I have two very good friends who went to Disney with us in October for their first time and loved it so much but were saddened knowing they could probably not afford to go again for a long time. Also, they stayed off site to save money. I am so happy that I can call them today and offer them the chance to go again. We will have so much fun!!!

I am glad you found the link I posted - if, indeed, this is where you found it - because I was worried not enough of our California DISboard members would see it in time to enter! The contest is for such a limited time and Good Day L.A. made it very hard to find the contest page (at least it was hard to find the last time I checked), so a lot of folks may have missed out. Plus, it is sports trivia, which turns a lot of people off, but thanks to the Internet, it is easy to answer a lot of things!

I am so glad you get to take friends who will really love and appreciate the gift and your generosity! What a great way to spend the holidays with friends!!!
