OK, this is not disign related. I am posting here because I have spent so much time on this board and already talked to so many people here. I have said before that it feels like an extended family. Something has happened I never thought would happen.
I have been planning a surprise trip for my 13 yo daughter, Hannah for a while. We will be at the World May 22-26. Hannah lives with her dad so this has been easy to keep secret. My oldest daughter, Natalie, lives with me. She has been OK with not going, but has made comments about wishing she could go. For this trip Hannah will miss one day of school- the Friday before Memorial Day. I have felt badly about Natalie not being able to go, so I changed everything. I have paid for her to join us. Extra money to add her to the package and another round trip airfare. She found out and got angry with me. She does not want to miss school. I know- I should be proud of this. I am torn. I thought I was doing something nice. When I was a teenager I would have been ecstatic if my parents had said, "By the way- you are going to Disney World next week." Not the case here. She really is angry. She has not missed a day of school this year and almost never does, so attendance is not a huge issue. Now, because the trip is so close I am trying to find someone who can take off work on short notice. I have paid for tickets and a dining plan. It better get used!!
How would you feel?:confused3 I could lose money on it. I think it is $100 per package. Disney Travel is closed. I will call them tomorrow. I don't even know if that is per person or if it would be $300. For $100 I may do it. Not for $300.
Now I am scared my other daughter will react the same way. That will ruin it for me. I am so confused and sad. I had no idea Disney World was such a terrible thing.

I can't offer much advise--just alittle empathy,,,I'm a single mom of three sons.
Sometimes I just don't understand my guys either.
Take a little time just for yourself and maybe write a note to your daughter expressing your feelings. Read it--share it with her or even tear it up once your finished,,
sending you some (((((((((Special Mom Hugs)))))))))))))).

My 14 yr. old daughter doesn't like to miss school. Doesn't matter if she is feeling sick she wants to go. Did I mention she is signing up to get extra credits for summer school? My 10 year old son on the other hand, is counting down the days for school to end! Doesn't hurt that we leave the next day for our summer trip. I think each child is different and they are always full of surprises. I know you want this to be a surprise trip, but would you consider explaining to them how special it would be to have the "girl time" with them. This would also give them time at school to make sure that they don't have any semester exams or tests that they might have to take.

Good luck.. hoping all works out for you:)
