I have been on lots of diets. Usually,I go back to WW and count my points. On Feburary 19th,I started a diet(hate calling it that, but that's what it is) and cut out bread, potato, pasta and rice.
All my favorite foods. All foods I ate too much of! Well,I can't believe I have already lost 22lbs!!!!! I really can't believe it! When I recently told a friend(who I haven't seen since New Years). That's how I lost weight, she said,"you're doing Atkins diet". I said no,I'm not doing any particular diet. Then she told me that eating a low carb diet IS Atkins diet!! I can't believe I can eat steak and salad with blue cheese and still lose weight, but I did!!!! And,I feel great!
There'll be no more WW or points for me!
This morning,I realized that there was a whole board dedicated to weight loss right here! So, I'm joining !!

Glad to have you! Grab a WISH clipart and join right in.

Isn't it amazing how much better you feel when you cut all the crap out of you eating! I would imagine that you've cut out sugar too? Are you eating any grains at all? Tell us more about your way of eating ----

You are doing TERRIFIC!:D

Congrats on the loss :) Grab a clipart and join us, we are a great bunch losers!! :)

I really just cut out all potatoes, pasta, bread, rice and sweets.
I'm sure I'm eating things I shouldn't,but I have lost weight .
I was wondering if there was a website that could tell me what I should and shouldn't eat.
This is what I typically eat during the day:
Breakfast: bowl of sugar smacks w/milk
Lunch: ham and swiss cheese w/mustard rolled up NO bread
Dinner: steak or chicken with BIG salad with a little crumbled
blue cheese and oil/vinager dressing
I do eat oranges (sometimes 3 a day!)and at night I may have a WW fugicle. I have also been eating low fat yogurt.
So,tell me you guys, what should I be doing differently?

thanks!!

Welcome to WISH, Airhead! You have lost sooo much weight, and only in 2 months! That is terrific! It sounds as though you have found a plan that works for you and finding what works for you is so key to being able to keep up with it. I am not doing Atkins, and am not an expert in that, but it sounds like your plan might be more akin to the Somersizing plan, than Atkins. You are getting in quite a few carbs (Sugar Smacks, fudgsicles, and all of the oranges), and I think that the Somersizing plan works more on how you combine your foods (carbs separate from protein). But, I am not an expert in Somersizing either, so I may be all wet on my assessment! You asked what you should be doing differently, but I would say keep doing what you are doing because it obviously is working wonderfully for you. If you really want to do the Atkins thing, there are lots at WISH that do Atkins and I am sure they can provide some great advice to you. Keep up the great work! You are an inspiration to me!

LOL, your on Atkins Diet and you didn't know it! Looks like you could have invented the diet yourself!
I think you are doing everything right if your losing weight. If your yogurt has regular sugar in it you shouldn't eat that particular one, sugar free is O.K... Try to keep it to 20 carbs or below each day. I think 3 oranges might be a lot of carbs. I just looked it up in my Atkins book and 1 medium orange has 16 grams of carbs.
Pharmacies sell test strips to see if your in Ketosis (which means your losing weight). They are called glucose/ketosis strips.
It's a good way to keep things on the right track.
There is so much information on this board, I'm sure you will learn a lot!

Good Luck:D
Congratulations

Not exactly Atkins, but you are low-carbing.

There are a few low-carb diets out there... Atkins is probably the best known. You can get information on it at www.atkinscenter.com. For specific food lists, and how to "do" Atkins, see Atkins 101, Acceptable Foods (for Induction), Ongoing Weight Loss - Beyond Berries

You can also find more information about other low-carb diets by searching in Yahoo, or your favorite search engine, for: low carb, Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, Somersizing... also, learning about the Glycemic Index will probably help.

Sounds like you have invented a cool new plan! :) Good for you! You have lost a bunch of weight! :) Congratulations!

I hope you stick around on the WISH board. We are always happy to have a new face on the block!!!!!

Keep up the great work!

I think part of the reason I lost so much weight (22lbs) so fast was because I started walking and exercising a lot at the same time to make sure I lost weight. Also,I was eating LOTs of pasta
(almost every day!) not to mention the french bread w/butter to soak up all that spaghetti sauce!! I was just wicked outa control!! I confess that what really got me to think about losing weight was the week before starting this diet I gained 8lbs in one week!!!! It was Valentine's week and I couldn't stop eating
candy. I totally binged on chocolate every day. So combined with all that pasta,I was a total pudge. A happy pudge who couldn't fit into any jeans!!! I never minded being a chubba. But I was starting to feel tired and winded. So,that's what got me started.
I was hungry when I started this diet too. Not anymore though.
Once I started losing weight,I was motivated!
I don't think I can give up my oranges! The sugar Smacks, maybe. But not the fruit. I'm not losing as fast as I was the first couple of weeks but I'm fine with that.Right now,I'm losing between 1 and 3 lbs a week. I need to lose about 40 to 50 more lbs and then maintain. I'm totally psyched to this!!
