I need a rental car for Aug. 19-Sept 3rd. Pick up and drop off in Charlottesville, VA.
I need it to be a full size car with unlimited miles. I have one reserved for $454.27 total and I keep hearing that is high. But... I have not found any better. Could someone please help???
Thank you so much,
Heather :cutie:

Who are you currently renting from. Have you checked mousesavers.com for any codes they might have for discounts. I have also seen lately that someone posted to check walmart or if you are a member of sams or costco or something like that they usually have discounts available.

I have a full-size reserved through Avis. I have checked mousesavers and even with the codes I found on there I didnt find better than $454.27 which seems super high!!
Thank you for helping!
Heather

When I first read your post, I thought your cost was high too, but then I realized how long you were renting it for and after fees and taxes your price may isn't that bad. You are also traveling over labor day weekend and that may be increasing the price a bit too. My only other advice is to check a few different car types if any would work for you. Once in a while an SUV or possibly (but probably not) a minivan might be less expensive than a full size. Finally, if you haven't called the rental car companies directly and have only gotten quotes through websites, sometimes they will have a better deal. Also, keep checking the rates. You never know when the rates will drop and you can cancel or modify your existing reservation.

I agree. That doesn't sound too high for 15 days worth of car rental.

That's about 30 dollars a day, with tax included. If you have unlimited mileage, that's a reasonable amount.

You are probably already getting the weekly rate (x two weeks) and a single day rate for the last day.

Check the price online against another location b/c some places charge facility fees if you rent from the airport. Budget had a couple of coupons on there website for 20 dollars of a weekly rate and I think two others. If you have one w/ in a close distance to you might want to check the cost. Other that there I wouldn't know what to tell you b/c enterprise is not open on sun and will be closed on labor day and any adjustments the price was 655.xx. With that being said I think you are getting a really good deal.

Thank you for the advice. Do you think it would be better to fly and rent there? If so, does anybody know where to find a great price for plane tickets? I could fly from IAD or Reagan international in Washington DC.
Thanks so much

You might also post this on the transportation board, if you haven't already. While it doesn't seem that you have a bad rate for two weeks, the regular posters on the transportation board can lead you to any deals if there are any to be found.
