I need/want to start making definite plans...

Ok, I've polled my extended family to death, and gotten all the info that I can from them, and now I'm working on getting actual pricing for our trip in August 2007, but now I'm not sure how to go about getting that...

1) Which Travel Agent is best to use (or should I go at this on my own)?

2) Should I go for a package (and hope for free Disney Dining Plan next Aug.) or should I get quotes for room & tickets separately?

We're planning on going on or around August 18 - 25th. Some folks plan on going to the other parks, some want to go to the water parks, etc.

My (rather uninformed) idea is to get rooms separate from the tickets, 'cause I can get mousesaver newsletter discounts. But would I be able to get the DDP?

I want to get started - I'm not sure how, though!

I believe I read that the free dining is actually attached to the lodging and not to the tickets, so you can get your tickets through the mousesavers link and still get the dining with your hotel reservation. That way, is you stay 10 days but only get 7 day tickets, you would still get to eat every day!

Yes, the dining is attached to your room, but you must purchase tickets as well with the plan. I would go ahead and book the full package if theya re doing that now, not sure packages can be purchase this far in advance. If and when the free dining comes along they will correct this for you, but you need to call ASAP once it is announced as there are limited rooms at the resorts for the free dining. Also the dining plan is so worth the money that if it doesn't come around you are still ahead. It is so nice not to have to worry about the cost of food while on vacation, we did this so many years when our children we young, I wish that they had something like the dining plan back then that is affordable and worth the money. The one they had was a fortune.
