I need to vent!

Several of my family members just don't get it. I have learned not to discuss my vacation plans with them anymore. If this is what makes me and my husband and children happy then why must they make snide comments like "you know, there are other places to vacation than Orlando." I love planning Disney vacations, I love being in Disney and I love thinking about going back. So what, I am a Disney geek!

I've noticed that is goes through stages: first they comment about 'ya going to Disney again?', then they are envious that 'you are going to Disney again?' and then they ask for help planning their trips to Disney!

Yes, my friends and family just don't get it. Sometimes it bothers me, but then I come here and read the posts about you guys loving WDW and I feel much better!

I don't know why people feel like they should comment about my vacation choice. So basically I just don't talk about it with them. But it almost kills me when I'm planning a trip and I'm just bursting from the excitement!

I guess if these people don't go then there will be shorter lines for us at WDW! Thanks for letting me vent!

I get a kick from people who don't get Disney. For me it's not just the Parks. I love staying on property, getting up early and walking around. There is so much more then the Parks. My DS's could stay in the pool all day and hang around at night meeting new kids. My DW like's to see all the gardens and flowers. The rides are a topping on the cake. Name a place where you can go and do everything in one in one location. There is something of everyone.

Thank goodness my friends and family are as obsessed as I am! Ok, maybe not to the same degree; but no one gives us a hard time about going as often as we do! 2 of my closest friends are just as bad as I am--we're all in the middle of planning our December trip now! I did have one friend who I thought would never "get it". She took here dd to MK while they were in Orlando for a wedding and thought it was "pretty fun, but not spectacular". I kept telling her that she needed the whole experience! Now she, her dh, dd and dd are also going to be going with us this December. She has gotten so into the planning-- reading these boards and Deb's site, plus she got a Passporter! I think she may be hooked before she gets there!

I think it's worse when you don't have kids. Then people really think you're off your rocker...

We just got back two weeks ago and already booked our next trip!

That is SO true. I mean, HELLO, I'm not wealthy by any means, but our long weekend trip in Dec is costing us each (2 adults) , about $450 for lodging , UPH tickets & airline. Our only other cost is food (which can be done cheap) & putting our dog in the kennel (which unfortunately costs more than a night at Pop Century!).

I think that's cheaper than we each spent on a long weekend trip driving to NH. And that trip was not nearly as fun!

There are so many ways to save money at WDW. I could have done this trip even cheaper had I wanted to, but we opted to go with a package (easier & we want to do Leave a Legacy which is one of the options).

I hear this too, mostly from my parents who go to the beach for 2 weeks 2 or 3 times a year. They cannot understand how we don't get bored with WDW. Well, lets see: at WDW there is swimming, golf, shopping, touring the parks (and they are always opening new attractions), seeing the shows and parades, sunbathing, renting water mice, etc. etc. At the beach about all you can do is sunbathe, swim, or walk along the beach. Not my thing, I can handle about a half day of that, any longer and I get bored. So, what's the difference? I just don't understand the flack we get about going to WDW.

I get this all the time, however it is usually from DH! He goes because me and DD's love it so much, but I have to include places other than Disney. Two years ago we went to Vero Beach for three days after four days of Disney. Last year we went to Universal's Island of Adventure. Didn't care for that too much. Even DH agreed it would be awhile before we go back there. Next year we are doing some locale attractions, Such as Ripley's Believe it or not and Skyventures.

We are also going to Disneyland for the first time next year. I'm trying to get excited about that, however I will miss our trip to WDW. Maybe I can sneak a short trip in.

Family and friends don't say too much about our trips. They know what a Disney freak I am (our whole house is Disney). I think they expect us to go to Disney all the time. Both my Brother and Sister asked for my help planning their first trips recently. They think I am an expert on planning trips. I figure what I don't know I can just ask on here!

I get the same things from people at work, family. There is one family member who is one of those anti-corporate guys (yet he works for a large corporation!) and seems to hate Disney. Sometimes my wife even asks, don't you want to go somewhere else, I smile and say no The other night she told me to stop talking about DisneyWorld, she was dreaming she was there I know she wants to go back, so hopefully we can go soon!

I get it too. I have converted most of my family, but co-workers, friends, and non-disney family don't understand. If we were to book a vacation at a NICE resort and pay for as much activity adn entertainment as we get at Disney, we would have to pay an arm and a leg or maybe a small person. It gets expensive at Disney, but we love Disney, can count on the entertainment and activities and they offer more than most non-Disney resorts do.

Why am I telling you? You already know.

I get grief from everyone too. It's too sad to even try to keep explaining all the time how much fun it is and NEVER boring. We all know, but some people just don't get it. I think my sister "may" be coming around. She asked me some questions about the resorts, which ones I liked and what to do type of questions. I was so excited!! I'm really hoping I can convince her and her kids to come with us soon! Her husband will NOT go, ever! That's ok, I'll be happy with my sister and her children. I don't need to conquer them all. Maybe I should start with just a "sister trip" for me and my 2 sisters? No kids the first time. That way they won't be stressed, but my son would be very upset being left behind. He's 15 now and absolutly loves going! If someone says to me "you're going there again"! I just say "yep" and keep on walking. If they are truly interested and want some info, I'm more than happy to help out. Otherwise, don't tell me where to go on my vacation and I won't tell you where to go on yours.

We have the same problem here. Last week my MIL says you are going to WDW again. Told her my daughter is only young once. Next trip is in 9 days, also we are A.P. holder..... The big trip will be in Aug -10 days..... We have this rule when we go to WDW, NO FRIENDS NO FAMILY NO PHONE........

We had a family vacation last May/June. 6 separate families in all. We thought that our SIL would never go to Disney,according to him. With all of the planning and talking and we even had a Disney party to give out the Disney gifts I had bought for the kids to take with them, he came around (@@*&#%$*#). since then, he has gone back again and they can't plan a trip without him now. There is hope, or maybe that isnn't the word.

Like some of you, those that say "Going Again" are the first to contact me when they want to plan to go.

Sounds familiar. My dad said that to my sister and me when we announced that mom and stepdad bought into DVC. He thinks we're nuts for going back as many times as we do. He admits that it's a nice place, but he says you should only go once or twice in a lifetime(sounds like he's used up his trips). But on the flip side, he took us on our first trip with him in 9 years this past summer. Yes it was a blast, but nothing beats Disney.
Everyone but my sister, in my house has been bitten badly by the Disney bug. I can't imagine going any other place for vacation. I can't understand how people can use their one big vacation a year to go skiing, or to the beach. I'd be bored to tears within a couple hours.

I am another "Disney Freak/Expert." Some people have said to me how come you keep going back and I explain to them the look that was on my dd's face the first time we went and Disney has been like a drug to dh and I ever since, we keep going back to see that smile, the magic. I also will say for as many times as we have gone that there is still plenty of things that we have never seen, I've never been to a water park, never been to Disney Quest. I have plenty of time to get to them. Plus I say that I am a DVC member, which I have to explain to everyone, so that also brings me back.

Funny thing is that whenever anyone at work is going to Disney, I am no longer a "freak" I am the one they thank for the huge savings they get (because of codes) and for enlightening them to the tricks of the trade - such sweet victory

As a single guy, I often get ribbed for going to Disney, whether I go alone, or "innitiate" a friend.
I have to admit that taking someone along who has never been before is a great experience, seeing everything anew through their eyes, but I have a wonderful time when I go alone too.

There is just something about being there, it's impossible to be unhappy!

I even sometimes have visions of moving closer to "the World" (I live in Maine) so that I can bask in the glow more often. I wonder what everyone would say if I told them THAT one!??? hehe

The cost is actually what got me started planning our Disney trip in the first place. Last year DH got his vacation in August instead of his usual first week of June. When I jumped online to plan our trip to the beach I absolutely could not believe the hotel rates in August! I was floored, our usual hotel was triple the rate we've paid in June. So, I started looking for alternatives and we ended up with Disney in February. It was the best vacation we've ever taken by far!

It just kills me when I hear people say it's too expensive. I was just checking out the Cedar Point, Ohio resort (if you can call it that) rates for this coming June (yep, first week) and they want $225/night. For Cedar Point? I'll stick with Disney thank you!

Our friends ask us this all the time. Our family does not say anything because they also go every year. My husband & I love it there. We have been going every year (sometimes 2 times a year) for 9 years now. Our honeymoon was spent at Disney and on the Disney cruise 5 years ago. Co-workers comment "why do you go to the same place every year"? I ask them, where do you go for vacation and 95% of the time they go the same place for their vacations every year so I ask them what is the difference. Really annoys me!!

I also think that most of the people who hated Disney didn't like it because of the $$$. People think it's way too expensive!!

The person who posted about Cedar Point. I completely agree with you. My best friend just booked a hotel there for $235 a night. Insane!!!! I told her she should just take her kids to Disney (3 and 16 months) but she thinks they are to young. My daughter is 19 months old and when we go in May it will be her second trip. Too young!! Whatever!!
