I need to vent over today's non release

And I do plan on griping to Disney too. Not just here. Not that it will result in anything most likely....

I anticipated two LE Easter pin releases today. They didn't come in. Oh well. That's the breaks. But what honks me off is no one at Disney having helpful information.

Today's experience --

A special trip to DTD (PT) for the LE Easter pin releases. None in sight. I found an available CM and asked about today's Easter pin releases.
They did not receive them. Their shipment was delayed.
I asked if the parks received these pins.
Response -- Probably. But we didn't.

So off I go to another pin location.
No Easter LE pins. I ask a CM about the pins. They only had the OE Easter Stitch.
She suggested DTD PT. I told her we just came from there and repeated what little I was told.
I asked if she could call or look and see who, if any location, had the LE pins.

She called someone. The information she was given was by someone obviously not knowledgable on pin releases. They also suggested I go to DTD -- in addition to stating that Fort Wilderness had a Tinkerbell Easter pin released!
Now wouldn't THAT make me a happy person had I not known that pin was released two days ago and sold out that day and I trekked to FW to find out it was long gone. It wasn't like it was an easy access pin in the first place! :p

I was ready to head home. Blaine wanted to check one more place.
We went to Epcot Central. I asked a CM about the scheduled pin releases.
No they didn't have them, and suggested I try DTD PT.
I explained what I was told there.
I asked WHEN the pins were expected.
The response was the shipment was delayed.
I repeated my question.
The response was either the 14th or 15th. (Don't recall, and I don't care. If I see the pins in the park -- fine. If not -- Oh well.)

So my gripe is:
If a specific holiday release is expected on that holiday (not prior) and it is not available -- why not inform the CMs, and also provide a sign for guests stating something like "Due to circumstances beyond our control..." yada, yada, yada? (Imagine -- Easter LE merchandise being released on or before Easter. What a concept! ;) )
And have someone a CM can contact to get current and accurate information from.
I don't know who the second CM called. And I don't expect that person to know about ALL park merchandise. But there sould be some specific department or area to contact.
This just made them look unorganized, ill prepared and unknowlegeable.
It goes along with my gripe about the MGM merchandise RSP. I knew more information and had a better concept of the merchandise due to Pinpics than I did from Disney.

I had posted on my site on April 8th these 2 pins would not be available until April 14th. I got this info from WDW. It was also on ODPT.com on April 9th.
With that being said I dont understand why they are cutting pins so close to the actual release date.
Remember the Home on the Range opening day pin from wdw, same issue but it was cancelled..
As I said on my board it seems like it is the year 2000 again when these issue happened a couple times a week.. They just dont learn.

Yeah -- I since found out the info was on Dizpins News. I just didn't go back and read it since the initial release. I did read Pinpics before I left just to see if there was a specific release location. Live and learn.
But like I wrote, it wasn't not buyng the pins that bothered me. (Heck -- saved me $. ;) ) It was the lack of info and/or lack of CORRECT info from within the park areas.
Like you, I was wondering why they didn't have those pins in their possession weeks ago, waiting for distribution. (Like they couldn't plan on Easter approaching? )
Just seems like a reactive management style, rather than proactive. Then to leave the CMs uninformed doesn't help.

I like the "At A Glance WDW Pin Release" format!
::yes::
Much easier to follow and look at a glance. ;) Lots better than one lonnnnng scroll down. ;)
I need to visit Dizneypins more often. :)

And this somehow surprises you???

Sorry... I usually lurk but I just couldn't resist that one

I don't collect Easter pins . . .

But if I did, and I visited WDW on Easter, and wanted that pin as a momento of that visit, I'd be pretty ticked off.

All the major pin locations should have known about the delayed release, and had a little flyer so that a guest could order the pin by phone when it finally turned up. Or better yet, a guest should be able to pre-pay for the pin in this type of instance. Now that's what Walt would have done. ::yes::

Oh, I forgot. We now live in the shadow of the Evil One. :earseek: The last thing we'd want to do is give the guest what they want. :(

I thought about that AFTER I posted.
They didn't look it -- they were. ;)

I'm not near the parks, but I would be really
upset also... why have pins come out AFTER the
holiday! Makes NO sense to me! Why even bother then!

Cutting the dates close is one thing... but
not having them out is crazy! They probably
lost alot of revenue (from even NON pin people)
because even when I wasn't into pins, I'd pick
up souvenirs of different rides, or special events,
or holidays! So when I did get into pins, I already
had a starter set, if you will, going!

::yes::

Your unfortunate experience yesterday reminded me of the Saturdays we used to wait in line at TDS for pins. How many times did the Store not have a pin to be released that particular day? or only had a half dozen? Disney gets dedicated pin collecting guests & then messes with them :(.
