I Need to Order My DDE Card - But When?

We are leaving on July 17th. Should I order the card today, June 5th? I want it to expire in July 2007, but not before July 17th, 2007. We will be in WDW this July 17 - 24, this Sept. 29 - Oct. 3, maybe again in May for Star Wars Weekends and definitely in July 2007 - from the 8th to the 17th.

When should I order my card? Thanks!

Um good luck! Generally it takes 3-5 weeks to get your card. I ordered my card a week ago. When I get it I think it will expire one year from the last day of the month that I ordered it in? You are really pushing it trying to get it to work exactly one year to fit your trips. You can order it late and use the letter. They will have a letter available for you to pick up from EPCOT!(why Epcot I have no idea?) But then you will need to show the letter the whole trip- and you will get the card when you get home. That way I think you will cover the entire time you want. I just ordered my second DDE card for the exact same reason- the one I ordered last year at this time expired for the trip we are taking the exact same week as last year.

I ordered mine on 5-16 and it just came in on 6-1 with an expire of 06/30/07

I think my turnaround was very quick and might be an exception to the general rule.

Why not enclose a letter with the form asking that it be effective from July 2006 to July 2007? It can't hurt to ask. Enjoy!

I actually had called in the beginning of May to order the card and the CM I spoke to told me to order in June to get the July 2007 expiration. If I call today, that gives me 6 weeks before we leave to get the card. I will ask about getting the letter at Epcot when I make the call, but I think that the 6 week window should be enough time to get the card.

Or as an alternative, you can do what I did in Oct '05 and order when you get there on July 17th and just pick up your temporary card at EPCOT the same day. I had no problems using the temp card the entire trip.

You can call DDE and get a temporary card if your card doesn't arrive before your trip.

I just got off the phone with DDE. I ordered my card and it will have an expiration of July 2007. So I'll be able to use it on all of my upcoming trips this year. The CM I spoke with was very "magical" and said that I should definitely have the card within 4 weeks - plenty of time before our July 17th departure. She said to call back if I don't receive it on time and they'll issue a temporary card to be picked up at Epcot.

Now I really feel like all of the "loose ends" for our vacation are coming together!
