I'm trying to get my plans set for October since I'll be able to make my ADRs soon. I need one more dinner. We're a group of 7: Me (35), my Mom (50's), my DS 13, DS 12, and DD 4, plus my nephew 12 and niece 11. On the evening in question we'll be at Epcot in the morning with non-hopper passes...so, dinner can be at a resort or at Epcot, but not another park. We'll be doing Le Cellier, 'Ohana, and Liberty Tree Tavern on other nights, plus possibly Tony's or Crystal Palace. My family has been to WDW quite a few times, but haven't done much resort dining, and we've never been with such a large group. There are quite a few picky eaters in the bunch, but they're okay with chicken, steak, burgers or hot dogs...choices on just about every menu, I think.

Possibilities:
Whispering Canyon
Chef Mickey's
Garden Grill, or
Biergarten

Other Possibilities:
1900 Park Fare, but it didn't seem very appealing to boys
Akershus, but again, it's girlish, plus the menu is sort of 'weird' to the picky eaters

Of all those "Possibilities" and "Other Possibilities," the only one I've been to is Garden Grill, and we liked it a lot. It's not very exciting though, lol. We had great character interaction, and good food, it's a 'safe' choice, but not really exciting or fun.

So, is one of my possibilities a much better choice? Does any one stand out as the best, or most appealing to kids? I want it to be fun for the kids, but it sure would be nice if the food tasted good too, LOL. :teeth:

Thanks for any advice and suggestions!

maybe alfredo's or the living seas or San Angel INN if your looking TO BE THE PARKS. If not you could try anywhere oin the boardwalk. Cape May has a good dinner buffet, too.

Oh the opportunities!!
You're right Garden Grill is safe... and if you want to stay into the evening staying at Epcot would be a good choice.

Wispering Canyon is FUN... the boys would love it, the girls probably would too but you'd have to take a bus over... and it is a little bit LOUD!!

Chef Mickey's is great. Food is good and it's a fun character meal... you could just take the monorail over... it is also loud, but not quite as loud as WC.

I would NOT recommend Beirgarten with that many kids... especially picky eaters. We took our son at age 9, he didn't eat a thing. There wasn't a kids buffet and the German food just looked weird to him.

Another option might be San Angel Inn... they have a kids menu and they can watch the boats while you enjoy some great food.

Have fun!!

Thanks! I guess I should have mentioned that we don't need to be in or near Epcot. We're not planning on Illuminations that night, so if we go to Epcot it would just be for dinner. We just can't go into any other park, since we're not getting hoppers. :)

Oh, and we're staying at OKW, but if a bus weren't convenient transportation we would be willing to take a taxi.

Alfredo's had good food when I went recently; not exactly exciting dining though, LOL. The fettucine alfredo, at least, is delicious; my dad enjoyed his spaghetti & meatballs, but said it was kind of bland.

If you're sticking strictly to the ones you listed though, while I've never done dinner there, I'd go for Chef Mickey's. Had breakfast there and it was wonderful. :cool1: A bit loud, but definitely tolerable compared to the theme parks. Great character interaction, and watching the monorail (for me at least) is always exciting. :thumbsup2

You can get good sandwiches and other food at ESPN bar at the Boardwalk. They have a ton of tv/s, but if you get a booth they have their own tv's which you can watch or hook up video games (which they bring over to you, just ask)

We've gotten great meals there...all except we're not crazy about liquid cheese in the nacho's.....

We might never get the boys to leave, LOL! :teeth: When we did get them to leave that's probably the only place they'd want to eat for the rest of the week. :teeth:

I would highly recommend Whispering Canyon - the food is great, the atmosphere is fun, and it's worth it just to see the Wilderness Lodge and soak in the awesome sights of it all. We usually stay at OKW too, so we take a bus to Magic Kingdom, then enjoy the lovely boat ride over to the Lodge - very easy, don't need to go into the Park, and it's an added bonus to your day. Enjoy!

Hey iluveyeore is your name Tracey or were you responding to jcemom's post? Because her name is Tracey... And so is mine!!.. Spelt the same with the E :rotfl:

WCC would be a good choice. You can get the skillet, which includes BBQ, baked chicken, ribs and linl sausage. Garlic Mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and salad along with cornbread round it out. A good meal , IMO. Our kids love it. And for those who dont want that route, they can order off the menu.

ESPN is a good choice also. Lots of varying choices on the menu with very good food.

Biergarten has excellent food but finicky eaters want find it so appealing.

CM is good, but its typical buffet food, IMO.

Another vote for WCC.

Just to add to your confusion...Spoodles at the Boardwalk was very good and then you could spend some time exploring the Boardwalk and all the "goings on"

Thanks guys! I still have a week to decide, but I think I'm leaning towards either doing WCC or Chef M's. Maybe I can work the Boardwalk and ESPN in on another night because I think the older kids will really like that. OR...we could do ESPN and Boardwalk that night, then Chef M's on our morning off.

There are just too many choices, LOL.

""""" Mexico"""" you eat under the star's - it's very festive == The boy's would like it . Plus they have a short boat ride ......

I havent been there yet, but we are going to try Coral Reef in epcot this time since it has gone to 1 ts.
