HI, Its been a few years since we have been to WDW and I need advice. I made my reservations for December. Now I am looking at the app and wondering how far out I can make FP+ reservations. The app is confusing since it gives me the option to choose fP+ times, but then my name is greyed out and I can't select anything. Is it too early? If so, why don't they offer a "countdown" or something to tell you when it is time? I am not very impressed with the app so far.

Thanks!

Way too early.

See the green link in my signature for more information.

You can't make FP reservations until 60 days before you check in if you will be staying at a Disney resort. You can't do it u til 30 days before your first park day if you are staying off site. At either 60 days or 30 days, depending on your situation, your named will no longer be grayed out.

Absolutely correct. The app is there so you can do things on your phone but it's more there so you can do things on your phone while at the parks so you don't have to take a laptop with you in the parks. I personally just use my home computer for everything. Lots more information all over the web before I go and when I'm there, I just view the lines and things that day. I don't use the app at all.

BTW - you can make advanced dining reservations starting at 180 days out.

You don't say your date of arrival, but to give you an example....let's say you are arriving on December 1, 2015......you can begin making advance dining reservations (ADR) on June 4, 2015 (where you are staying does NOT matter for reserving ADR).

If you are staying at a Disney hotel, then you can being choosing your FP+ on October 2, 2015. If you are staying offsite, then you may begin choosing FP+ on November 1.

Actually, with an arrival date of December 1, the date you can start booking FP+ if you're staying offsite is November 1. And where you're staying does matter for booking ADRs. If you're staying on property then you can start booking ADRs 180 days before your arrival for up to 10 days after that (referred to as 180+10). But if you're not staying on property, then you would have to book each ADR at 180 days out.

Kind of true that it doesn't matter for what date you reserve ADR's. But if you're on property, you can reserve ADR's for 180 days + 10, so if you are staying December 1-9, you can make ADR's for your entire length of stay on June 4.

If you're off property, you can only make ADR's 180 days out. So on June 4, you can make December 1. You'll have to go back on June 5 to make December 2, and so on.

You're right it's Nov 1.....correcting it in my original post.

OP was asking what day he could begin making ADRs, so I didn't want to confuse with the +10.....sometimes you can only overwhelm someone so much, lol. Let's not forget there is also the little detail of it's USUALLy midnight, unless MK is open until 1am and then the FP window doesn't open until 1am. There are a million details, but as I said, was trying not to overwhelm with all the little details.
