Little background - :wave2: I am 24, saving for a wedding to my DBF of over five years. Currently I am a kindergarten teacher in a private school and have been trying to find a new job since February. What it comes down to is that at my current job, there is no chance for tenure, the IS always a chance that the school is going to close (as Catholic schools are on the decline in NJ) and I am earning more then ten thousand dollars less then my peers who are woking in public schools. I wish I could say money wasn't an issue but lets face it - it just is!

SO - Tomorrow I have an interview at a local public school and I am really hoping that it goes well. Some positive thoughts and pixie dust sent my way would be appreciated

Good luck! :wizard: :cheer2: pixiedust:
I understand that its a money issue and as a Catholic school parent I applaud you for teaching kids for substantially less money than your peers. So thank you. :sunny: Oh, and I wish you could be paid more where you're at! :thumbsup2

Good luck. :teacher: . I hope you get the job. A little of this stuff pixiedust: never hurt anybody.

Good luck! :wizard: I know a girl who went from private to public and loves it! Keep us posted.

Thanks to all!!! :wizard:

The interview went well and I have a good feeling about it. I won't know for another week or so but I hope that all of your pixie dust worked.

I will keep you posted! :goodvibes

Eeyore - I really enjoyed my time teaching in Catholic school and it is wonderful that my efforts were so appreciated by parents like yourself. This has actually been a very difficult decision for me as I wish money wasn't an issue. I loved the atmosphere of my school and am going to miss it a great deal but I need to make a move in order to progress in my life. Thank you again for your kind words though!

More Good luck and Pixie Dust! Hope it works out for you!! :tink:

I hope you hear good news soon!!

My DH teaches at a private catholic school and he also gets paid a lot less than the public schools. He's not actively looking for a new job, but if he hears of a good public school position open up I know he'll be there applying! He's a music teacher so it's not only his salary, but also his music budget that would go up in public schools. :)

I think that will do it. Please let us know how it goes. :)

Come on down here! I think we've got a NJ enclave here somewhere.............

What? You don't want to move to where it's 107 degrees in the shade? Oh okay........... :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I am sure you did well.

Here, let's recap:
What is your teaching philosophy?

How do you feel math is best taught in a primary classroom?

How would you make accommodations for a non-English speaking student?

How do you include very quiet students?

How do you handle a very active student?

How do you feel about taking on extra duties?

Edited because I didn't check the date and you already had your interview!
