My two sisters, my mom, and I had planned our first ever trip for the girls this year! I've spent a lot of time planning our vacation, but I just got the news that the weather is going to be horrible during our trip. Usually, no rain can stop us, but it's predicted that a hurricane might even be coming our way. :sad1: Our trip is from August 26th to the 30th. I am still looking forward to being in Disney, but I'm worried our trip might be ruined.:sad2:

Is there any bright side to this news?

Okay, girls trip-if it is raining...lots of shopping at DTD, checking out the resort, monorail rides, visiting other resorts, take in a movie at DTD.

I understand your concern, we had a trip with just DH and I and our 3 boys and there was bad weather predicted. It ended up not being too bad, there was a day that was a washout-we rode the monorail back and forth and finally took shelter around the corner from Aloha Isle at MK. We were there for 3 hours!

We people watched, sang "Twinkle, Twinkle" 100 x's, we ate lunch, hung out and talked about what we had seen/done so far and what we wanted to do on our next trip.

When the rain stopped it was dusk, the park was empty and it was beautiful! This turned out to be our best day as a family on/off Disney property. It was a very blessed day - b/c of the rain!

So, hopefully it doesn't turn into hurricane craziness-there are shelters and generators at every resort (DH has called and checked before). It will be fine, you will all be together-enjoy each other's company. I have 3 sisters and our mother passed almost 20 years ago-I would give my right arm to be able to experience a vacation with her and my sis's in a hurricane.

You will have a great time, stop worrying!;)

Don't let the weather get you down! Girls' Trips rock and you should be able to have fun no matter what! Enjoying each others' company is what's most important. We still like to trudge through the rain! (well, I guess a hurricane would be different :)). One of our favorite things to do for the girls is tea at the Grand Floridian. It is a really nice thing to do and if the weather is bad, a great place to linger and just enjoy each other. It is a nice way to linger in the restaurants or find some bars that serve all kinds of things, something for everyone. The Polynesian's Tambu Lounge is a nice place to hang out and have a pineapple drink (even non-alcoholic).
Like the pp said, shopping is great or even resort hopping to other resorts.
My family loves to take lots of silly photos at all the resorts/gift shops.

You will have a great time no matter what, it's what you make of it, HAVE FUN! :goodvibes

It's fine here! I live 45 minutes from Disney and the weather gets rainy in the afternoon lately but that's about it. If the rain bothers you guys a bit, there are definately other stuff you guys could do. :D Don't worry about it! I haven't heard of a hurricane hitting here just yet. So I think you're good. :) You guys will have fun! :thumbsup2

It seems like every time we go, there's a hurricane looming (our fault for always going in September!). Most of the time, they veer off or are no big deal (thankfully for everyone in FL). A lot can happen between now and then!

I usually say it's better to have a bad weather forecast -- because they always change. By my twisted logic, if good weather is predicted, that's when you worry -- because if it changes, it'll then be bad weather.

...follow that? :rotfl:

Everything will be fine. Just buy some ponchos there, I love the Disney ones, and wear shoes like crocs or flipflops, so if it does rain your feet will dry faster. Also, look on the bright side, it may keep the crowd level down too. :thumbsup2 I have been there before when we have had heavy rains & it didn't stop us. I packed zip lock bags for my cameras and cell phones and they stayed dry. :)

Also, after the storm passes, it's normally beautiful weather for a few days. :goodvibes

Have fun!!:wizard:

I agree! We are local passholders and yes, August is the rainy season for us, but nothing that would ruin a trip. FL rain doesn't typically last all day; instead, it just pours for 20-30 minutes and then it's nice and sunny again. We were just there on Saturday and that's exactly what happened to us then! That's why we always carry a poncho with us. :goodvibes
