Help Me!

My friend Mike, and I, are planning on going on this Disney Cruise for our "Graduation Trip." We both Graduate in 2006 and are planning on doing the 7 day cruise, I will have turned 18 and he turns 18 at the beginning of July. What should we do? Is the Aduly activites boring for an 18 year old? Should we just go to Disney World instead? What would you suggest?

I guess it will depend on what is fun to you and what is boring. Do you think you are looking for a place to get away and relax? Or, do you think you want lots of thrills and parties? Of course on the ship you can relax during the day and club at night. Though I have heard people say they wish there were more activities for the 18-25 age group. Do you know the dates you want to sail? You could go to the cruise meets board and talk to everyone going, see if there are others your age. I'm not a fan of carnival cruise line at all but I know that many young adults, especially recent grads, really like the party atmosphere that they have. You also might take a look at cruisecritic.com. Go to the boards, then go to the other cruise lines boards and ask about programs for the 18-25 age group.

I think the Adult part sounds more for older married couples. I know the one think I like about it that I want to do is get a massage! lol~ hmm... I like the disney atmosphere though also. I do not know much about the carnival cruises though. I must admit, I would probably choose Disney over anything Not Disney, even at the age of 17. Out of curiosity, Do they check ID to get into the Teen and Adult clubs? For instance, what happened if my friend was almost 18.. but Not?

Hey aprilgail2, Just for your information, It won't only be me and my friend riding on board. My parents will also be on board with us. They are also disney fanatics lol~ so they'll be along for the ride sorta

You'll want to keep in mind also...when thinking of doing a cruise, with Disney the 7 night Western you'll have more days at ports to explore new places like Cozumel Mexico or Grand Caymans..where the Eastern you'd have more sea days...therefor more time on the ship. As for if you'll have a good time or not...it all depends on what your wanting to do...relax on deck, go swimming, see some shows, catch a movie or two....

As for the adult clubs...I'm not sure what the age limit is to go in...but I'm sure the drinking age is still 21.

Have you thought about doing a land/sea trip?...Where you go to WDW for a few days then do a 3-4 night cruise??

My 19 year old DD was with us on the 10 day Holiday Cruise. While she had a good time - and enjoyed some of the activities more than her RCCL cruise - it took her awhile to find some friends to hang with. The mixers they had for the 18-21 yr olds were poorly attended early on. She was bummed that the drinking age was 21 - RCCL it's 18 (she just wanted to be able to drink the wine at dinner....). The clubs are all 18 except Sessions which is 21. If she had a friend with her - I think she would have had even more fun - as it was she met a couple of the CMs and a young man who was with his family and had a blast.

My kids were 13 and 17 when we were on the Disney cruise, and found the kid stuff boring. All they did was adult stuff. Two years earlier they also found the kid stuff boring, on our HAL cruise, and did all adult stuff.
There is so much to do, I don't understand how you could be bored.

I can't speak to what WVMD said, because RCCL's OFFICIAL drinking age is 21.....but they may overlook that on some of the ships, but I don't know of any line that cruises out of an American port that has an official drinking age lower than 21.
Guess it just depends how important alcohol is to you. My 17 year old spend 2 weeks in Spain and France, and only had one glass of wine.....just doesn't like alchoholic beverages. Cost me a bundle since sodas cost twice what wine does there.

I'll reply back more later, but just so everyone also knows, I don't Drink or anything like that. lol~ I'm probably looking for some relaxing times, but also, some times to have some real fun and just get away.

If your not a drinker...or looking for that type of activites...then I would think you would love DCL. It's not over the top Disney...and it's not a big party boat. There are tons of fellow cruiser having a good time and relaxing. The clubs and acts were fun and entertaining...for the most part. The shows are top notch...well at least the ONE I saw was great. And the movies played onboard are all fairly new...although they aren't rated R...there not all cartoons either. Of course I'm not 18 so my views on whats good my be diffrent...but I just can't imagine anyone reguardless of age not like crusing...It's so wonderful..not to mention the adventure of going to new places. A cruise can be so individual...you make it what you want.

Just a thought, but as you graduate in 2006, why dont you try one of Disneys 7 day that is going to Costa Maya, it also features 2 days at castaway Cay, which would have loads for you to do such as parasailing, banana Rides, snorkelling etc etc. We are booked on the 8/19/06, for this very reason 2 days at Castaway.
