Folks,

We've never eaten at Planet Hollywood. If you've eaten there can you tell me about the food, pricing, is it kid friendly, can you get a PS for this restaurant?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

:D Overrated AND overpriced.

DW and I went last Dec. and the prices almost floored me. It was $10.95 for a turkey club sandwich and the Cheeseburger was more but I can't remember the price and this was at lunch!!!!!:D

Planet Hollywood always gets mixed reviews, lol. People seem to hate it or love it. My kids LOVE PH. The restaurant is cool and the visual effects are neat. We find the food to be typical of that type. Yes, it is a bit pricey but at WDW, what isn't?

Menu: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_ph.htm

We ordered a really big nacho-type of appetizer that is not on the menu above so either it was a special or newer than the menu. Last trip we went on a Saturday and arrived before 6pm with no wait. On the way out there was quite a line. I don't believe you can make a PS unless that has changed.

My had lunch there in May. We walked in about noon with no PS and were immediately seated. We ate here because we were starving and my DH wanted to--I was skeptical. Our server was a sweetie and did a great job. Prices were typically Disney-high, but I thought the food was a cut above your typical Hard Rock Cafe food--which is what I expected to find. I had the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes. I can't remember what DH had, but am sure it involved beef. He liked his lunch as well. I also had a Gorillas in the Mist Daquiri (or was it a colada?) that was banana-flavored. I think it also had kahlua in it. I ordered it because of the cute little description on the menu ("You'll want to protect this tasty drink...") Yes, I'm easily amused. Overall, we had excellent service from everyone we encountered. Several waiters urged us to go upstairs (as those levels did not have guests at this time) to check out all the cool movie memorabilia. It was a fun experience, and I'm glad we tried it. :wave2:

I don't think it's anything to write home about, but of course I've eaten at them in other places... I tend to stick with Disney exclusive restaurants when I go there... the prices are high, it's usually crowded and VERY loud in there. The cram you in, and pump up the music. I remember the food being okay, not fine cuisine but not gross either. Very expensive.

You're paying for the atmosphere and all those Hollywood relics everywhere. You can always go in to check it out without eating there, if you want. =)

We, parents and kids have always loved planet hollywood.

We have been going there since it opened..kids were pre-teens now all 20 somethings. WE still love it and they still love it.

There is a wide variety menu, moderately priced..the usual $8 hamburger type place. The food is good, some of the better chain type food around. Our favorites are the LA Lasagna and Cobb Salad. They are wonderful.

It is definately family friendly, and lots of fun.

I say go and give it a chance. Everyone has different tastes, so we like to judge for ourselves whether something is good and whether or not it suits our family.

Enjoy!

I think Im in the minority here, but we really enjoy PH. Weve eaten there 3 times and have always enjoyed our meal. Last summer I tried the LA Lasagna and it was wonderful! I cant wait to go back and get it again. However, we tried booking a PS 90 days out at 7:30am(it couldnt have been booked that fast) and the earliest we could get was 10:15pm. Others have reported getting the same answer when trying to book PSs there so Im not sure if they are changing their PS policy or what.
The kids enjoyed it, and had a blast singing along to the songs they knew. Unfortuantely the kids pizza wasnt the best pizza ever, but edible.
We had our neighbors with us for their first visit there. When looking at the menu they thought it was overpriced, but after getting their meal they felt it was well worth the price.
Good luck with the PSs!

I avoid chain restaurants when I'm on vacation, but that's me. We had one here in Miami which eventually closed. The food and service are definitely a cut above Hard Rock Cafe, but I still find it hard to justify what is in some instances a two-hour wait for what is in essence a restaurant celebrating really crappy big budget Hollywood movies.

There's better food at Pleasure Island and DTD.

We've only been here at lunch and we've enjoyed it. The portions are large and the food is good - nothing fantastic, but above average. Our service has been great and we've never encountered a huge crowd (in July).

...the Chicken Crunch....its our families favorite.

However, our experience has been S-L-O-W S-E-R-V-I-C-E. It seems to take forever to get served and then requests for beverage refills also takes a long time.

IMHO...there are better choices, better values on the property.

We had an early dinner there last month. We got there betwen 5:00 & 6:00 on a Tuesday night and were seated immediately on the second level. My mom and I shared a chicken crunch appetizer and a club sandwich, both were good. Service was great. Prices are no more outrageous than most WDW restaurants.

Go for an early lunch or whenever there are no crowds. Then it's a fun time. Avoid going for dinner or anytime there is a crowd. Their crowd management is AWEFUL and makes for a stressful experience.

Go for a late lunch. We ate around 2:30 there and it was GREAT. The service was awesome too. Our waiter when he found out we were from NH, sat down and started talking to us about the weather we had left behind as compared to what it was there (it was 3 degrees warmer down there then it was here.... , in February), and some other stuff. He was a really good guy. Service was quick too. We were all really happy with our food. We probably wouldn't have tried it if we didn't have a coupon from the place we were staying, but we're glad we did. We will go back. It's not a place we have around here-so for us it is Disney Exclusive. We also ate at Hard Rock Cafe on the trip, and they are pretty similar, but the people at PH were more friendly. Food was similar, as were the prices. Atmosphere was more fun at PH.

Burger's and shake's for lunch at PH.::yes:: :wave2:

I haven't eaten at the one at DTD yet but will when I visit in September. We visited the one in Atlantic City just last month and really enjoyed it.

I had a chicken sandwich and my mother had a club sandwich With 2 sodas it came to around $25. To me, this is the same as you would pay at any Disney sitdown restaurant so I don't know how people can say it is overpriced????

The food was very good and more than either of us could eat. We are really looking forward to taking my two boys (8&10)there when we visit Disney. We will have trouble getting them to eat because of all the neat stuff to look at.

Only Negative comment: my 62 year old mother thought it was too loud but is still willing to go back.

If you think you would like it, go!! If you don't like it, don't go back. Some places that get rave review here, I totally hated. Go with a positive attitude & check it out for yourself.

Its very loud, crowded, overpriced and the food quality is average.

That said, its still worth going to at least once, because it does have alot of neat things to see and the atmostphere is cool.

I like Ph my husband and I usually eat there once a trip If you go for an early dinner late lunch there is plenty of seating. I really don't think there is much difference between PH and rainforest Cafe I like both of them. KELLY

I have been to Planet Hollywood twice. I will not be going back to the place. Not only did they get my order wrong and the food was cold. I am not hard person to please and the wait staff is slow.
