I Need Resort Help Please!

We are heading to WDW for our first trip the first week in Dec. We have ressies at the Pop Century.

The more I read, the more panicked I become. I am totally confused as to how I am going to get around, get back and forth, and make it to my ADR's on time!

What resort would you recommend to a newbie for easiest access to the parks?

all the resorts provide transportation to the parks starting about 1 hour prior to opening time. relax and have a great time.

We never had trouble with the bus system while leaving Pop for anywhere.
It was only getting a bus back to Pop that was the major problem for us.

We would leave about 70 minutes before our ADR from our room and were always very early.

I think you'll be fine getting where you need to go at Pop. We hardly ever waited more than 10 or 15 minutes for a bus leaving Pop.

Regardless of what you read here, guidebooks or elsewhere, NO resort has a perfect location to "all" parks.

Some are certainly within viewing distance of parks but even then that does not always account for quick transportation.

Case in point. We were at the Polynesian, and friends were at All Star. We called each other and arranged to meet on Main Street, at Casey's. We left our rooms at the same time. They had a room close to the bus stop and when they got there the bus pulled up and left without delay.

We had a room a good distance from the monorail station and when we got there, the monorail was just pulling out of the station, so we had to wait.

So yes they got from All Star to Casey's in the MK, before we did and we were at a monorail resort.

So just plan accordingly and you will not have any problems.

here are shuttle busses to take you between your resort and each of the Parks. You can also take shuttles from Park to Park. You can go from MK to Epcot on the monorail & vice versa. You can take shuttles from the Parks to other resorts if you are wanting to visit them. Grand Floridian, Polynesian, & Contemporary Resorts are all accessible on the monorail or by boat from Magic Kingdom. If you are going from your resort to another resort, take a shuttle to Downtown Disney and catch a shuttle there to another resort.

My recommendation on ADR's is to plan to be in that park the day of your reservations. If you have ADR for Fanatsmic show & dinner, plan on spending the day at MGM. I don't like wasting time hopping around to make dinner reservations. If that doesn't work into your plans, I would recommend hopping back to your ADR park, starting about 90-120 minutes before your reservation. If you are going from MGM to MK, it could take you 15 minutes to get out of the park, 15-20 to get on a shuttle, 10-15 to get to the destination park and another 15-30 to get into the park to your restaurant. At the minimum that is about an hour to make a hop if everything goes smoothly. I've never done it smoothly

Planning is the key to enjoyment. And if you have kids, it's easier than trying to drag them away just to make a dinner rez!

I suggest that you plan your meals according to where you will be at that time of the day. For example, don't have a meal scheduled at the 50's Prime Time at the Studios if you plan on being in the Magic Kingdom. It's always easiest to have a meal either in the park you plan for that day or in the nearest resorts. From the Magic Kingdom you can easily get to the Poly, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian. From Epcot and the Studios you can easily get to any of the Epcot resorts for a meal (Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin).

A good idea is to make youself a calandar (or spreadsheet) for the time your going to be there. Find all the times of the parks, when the parades are, extra magic hours, any other special events that are goind on and what resturaunts are there or near by.

Then make yourself an itinerary. It doesn't have to be strick, but it gives you and easier (I think so) to plan everything and help ensure that you don't miss anything.

When we are going they have MVMCP on 4 nights at MK. This means that those nights they don't have Wishes or SpectoMagic.

Just a little thought to help out.
If you want a clearer picture PM me and I'll send along what I did. I did one for myself and one for my cousin who is going the week after us. Most things are the same, but some park hour times are different and some exhibits are open that are closed our week.

The last time we went to WDW with our friends they stayed at the Pop century since we didn't have enough points for them to DVC it with us. They loved the resort and were never late meeting us. I think the value resorts actually have more buses and can get you places quicker some times.
