I need one more ADR and want to try something new. Any suggestions?

I was leaning toward one of these two places for the kids. Could you give me a quick synopsis of each?

Sci Fi and 50's, and they're both fun! But we liked the food a bit better at 50's, but we'd go back to either of them. Here's a quick recap of our experience at each:

Sci Fi:
Waited quite awhile to be seated. Atmosphere is GREAT! We got seated in a car, the boys got drinks with glowing ice cubes - which they still have. We got milkshakes, which were good, and burgers. I'm not a big burger person, so it wasn't my favorite meal, but we had lots of fun, so I enjoyed it anyway. Service was good. The big movie screen shows clips of old goofy sci fi films, and they're pretty funny.

50's we were seated very quickly. The waiting area looks just like 50's living rooms - couches, lamps, tv's the whole thing - very cute. Our waiter was hilarious. You really have to be willing to get into the act to enjoy it; I was a little hesitant about that, but it was a hoot! Our ds 9, went to the restroom, and when he came back our waiter asked him, "Did you wash your hands?" DS said yes, and waiter asked, "What color was the soap?" That's now a favorite question in our family. The food is mostly comfort type food; meatloaf, pot roast; mac n cheese, so foodies might not appreciate it, but after lots of dining out, and lots of menus consisting of "mixed greens with arugula and gorgonzola, wasabi slaw, braised fennel, ****ake mushroom and goat cheese polenta," and the like, (which we did enjoy), we found it refreshing and very enjoyable to eat a good ol pot roast and some mashed potatoes! The kids got a kick out of the dessert menu, and my dessert, S'mores, was truly one of the most memorable desserts I've ever had. Yum.... I can taste it now.

We tried Teppanyaki on our last trip and it turned out to be one of my favorite places to eat. Its a good value on the DP too. The steak and chicken I had was $27 for the entree. It was really good food and we all had fun trying to eat with the chop stix.

I'll toss in a second vote for Garden Grille. It's a wonderful, QUIET character meal (it's the only park restaurant I've been in where you actually felt like you were dining by yourselves, not with 200 other people) with the big-name characters and some of the best food I've ever had at the parks, but nothing so over-the-top that the kids might have trouble finding something they like. IMVHO I say skip the meal at the Sci-Fi and drop in there for a snack break and get a milkshake . . . yes you SHOULD see the place, but the food is pretty regular for the price, it's not much different than something like Applebees. Based on prior experience we also always loved Coral Reef, but I've noticed they've (again, IMHO) taken everything slightly interesting out of the menu, lol, so I don't know about that one any more. :confused3

Another vote for '50s Prime Time Cafe. :thumbsup2 I think this is a truly unique Disney experience you will simply not find anywhere else.

Ask for a "fun" server when you check in. We've been twice; the first time, we had a great server who ended up making my dh sing "I'm a little teapot" in front of the room because he kept putting his elbows on the table. It was a ton of fun, and my girls still talk about that experience five years later! :teeth:

The second time we went, we had a server who was ok, but not one to play around too much. We still had a fun time and enjoyed the good food and unique atmosphere.

HTH,

Disneyfriend
