She is obsessed with cats :rotfl: She is having a kitty birthday party and I was trying to come up with some fun games/crafts/ideas for her party. So far other than the pin the tail on the kitty game, I have 2 more ideas:

1. Each child is given a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a bowl and the first one to lick it up wins (my DD will LOVE this one esp. being given permission to eat like a cat :rotfl: )

2. I was going to buy a few bags of those toy-mice (my real cats will have a field day after) and then hide them throughout the yard so the "cats" (children) can go on a mouse hunt....

3. A relay race with a balls of yarn.... not sure yet exactly what I'm going to do for it/have it set up???

Ok-creative ideas needed! :) Looking for some more games and possibly a craft or anything else that might pertain to a 6 yr old's bday :) :)

THANKS in advance!!!! :goodvibes

to be honest i think what you have is more than enough. you dont want to plan too much, the kids will want time to just run around as well. at least thats the experiance with my children. in the beginning i would try to plan a bunch of things, buy all the materials , just to find out they were always too busy playing to actually sit down at do the things i planned.

Have you ckecked out birthdaypartyideas.com? They have ideas for just about any party! I know there is a treat mix that is like Chex mix that people call "Puppy Chow". You could have that as a snack and call it "Cat Chow". You could paint their faces with face paint to look like cats when they come it. You could also get head bands and glue on cat ears for each of them (at this time of year, the dollar store might even have costume cat ear headbands premade). There is a game called "meow kitty" where one child sits in the center of the circle with eyes closed and one person is chosen to be the kitty. The kitty must go up to the child in the middle, rub their head against them and say "meow" three times. Then the child in the middle must guess who was the kitty. You can play til everyone has a turn. I did this with my Girl Guide group and it's a good game for 5/6 yr-olds.

My DS had a "puppy" party when he turned 7 and we did (or at least offered) all those things. He invited his entire class (15 kids) and we found the girls were more interested in the face-painting and the ears, and the boys just wanted to eat puppy chow. :lmao:

I didn't use headbands for the ears, however. To save a little money, I purchased brown pipe cleaners and we would twist two together to fit the child's head. They wore it around the top of their head like a crown.

The day before the party my older DD and I had cut black, brown and tan felt into different sizes and shapes of 'ears' to attach to the pipe cleaners. The kids loved choosing their ear colors, and of course some didn't match.

For goody bags, I used brown paper lunch bags stamped with a paw print. Wrote each kids name on one bag. The goodies included dog pencils and stickers I found at Target.

Any party supplies I ordered were from one of the online party suppliers. PM me if you would like the name. They were adorable.

We have two cats now and I'm surprised no one asked for a kitty party. :goodvibes

LOL....Kind of OT here, but....

We used to do pony parties, both at peoples homes and at our farm. Whenever we had a 6 year old girl....yes, same age as your DD ;) party, the girls would "love" the pony for the first ride, and if a barn cat happened to have kittens around, they would spend the rest of the time playing with the kittens!! I used to joke and say I should just have kitten parties!

Thanks to a great program, our barn cats have all been caught, vetted, and spayed. No more kittens on the farm. We did just have one dropped at the house, but he's pretty friendly, and yes...it's a he!!! Thank goodness!

Hi there, i just posted this suggestion on another thread for cat party. I have a great cat face image that i found on microsoft clip art. it sizes up perfectly to use as a mask. You could get the girls to cut out the eys and attach the elastic. i cant put the picture in this post as i am too new to this forum, but you will find it on microsoft office online, or in my signature somewhere, lol

If your daughter is an adventurous eater, you could make the "kitty litter" cake. The recipe can be found by doing a web search. People I know who have had it says it tastes very good, but looks gross--just like used kitty litter. It does require buying a new litter box and scooper for serving of course....
