I need IPhone advice

actually the price plans are not the same. I could search but hate searching Dis for threads lol But a few months back there was a thread on plans offered and there were differences. Even in this thread, the 550 family plan someone mentioned is not available for me. The lowest family plan for my zip code is 700 min for $70.

I agree rate plans and packages change region to region. That could be why some have unlimited plans and nordkin does not.

http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/iphone-info.jsp

here are the 3G plans. If you have an original phone, the data package is $10 less and 200 text messages are included

that must be in your area.

My Rate Plan
FamilyTalk Nation 700 Rollover & Unlimited Night/Weekend & Unlimited Mobile-To-Mobile Minutes
$60.00

My family talk 700 is no where near $129.99 as you can see and only 9.99 each additional phone not 39.99 each add phone.

I copied and pasted this from my area's ATT site

A lot of people rave over the iPhone flashlight apps, but setting your screen to max brightness and using it for illumination will drain the battery pretty fast. At home or at work, it's not too much trouble to recharge my iPhone if the battery gets drained, but when I'm out and about, I prefer not to drain it too fast. At places like WDW, there are not so many opportunities to recharge, and I don't carry my charger cable around the parks with me, anyway.

Being something of a Gadget Geek, I prefer to carry a flashlight with me wherever I go.

I also have a small squeeze light on my keychain for times when I need a little light Squeeze lights can be found at many stores for $1-$3, but I prefer to get these cheapies from DealExtreme at 10 for $4.47 with free shipping:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1253

They're little enough to fit conveniently on any keychain - and also fit quite nicely on pin lanyards while at WDW - yet they are extremely bright and the batteries last a long time. They're actually cheaper than the cost of the batteries along in a retail store, so when they die, I simply throw them away and get more. I order them 100 at a time, once or twice a year; when you order 10 of the 10-packs, the price drops from $4.47 per 10-pack to $3.76 per 10-pack (but then they add $1.70 shipping charge to the whole order, so the total for 100 lights is $39.30).

The $9.99 vs $39.99 difference in adding a line is voice vs voice and the required data plan.

There is a TON of information about rates, features, use on macrumors.com They have forums like this devoted to just iphones.

I'd love an iphone but AT&T has no stores around here and those people that I know that have AT&T phones in this area say the coverage is only okay so I'll be sticking with Verizon...I can upgrade now and I'm thinking of getting the Blackberry Tour or possibly holding out until early 2010 when they're supposed to be getting the Palm Pre.

I agree I would definitely not use it for any long period of time. I pretty much use it for little things around the house and it's on for about 30 seconds or less.

I didn't see it mentioned that the iphone data plans also includes free WiFi on the iphone at ATT hot spots such as Starbucks & McDonalds. -- Suzanne

The 'rumor' is that Verizon might have some sort of iphone in 2010 when the exclusivity contract with Apple and ATT runs out. I would love to see the iphone on Verizon. The coverage is much better, and they have 3G in my area which ATT does not. Plus then I could merge it into an existing Verizon family plan instead of the individual ATT contract I have now. Keep your ears open and maybe something more definite will be announced and you could end up with the best of both worlds, an iphone and Verizon.:)

And airports too, sometimes. :) You click to login in and they send a txt to the iphone with a link to sign in. It is a nice way to pass the time and a lot cheaper than paying for service at each airport along the way or draining the battery on Edge or 3G (if they don't offer free wireless)

One more app I like is iwant. The phone knows where you are so you click an icon for what you want-Indian Food, a drycleaner, a store that sells shoes, pharmacy....and it gives a list of the available options, how far they are from where you are standing and the map on how to get there.
