I need high temperature help, please!

:(

Just keeping at the top for an update. I hope everything went okay at the Dr. I know infection is the most dangerous thing about CP.

Amy is in our thoughts Melissa.

I was right. It was an infection. It was even more swollen by the time we got there. They gave her a shot in each hip. It really hurt. They also prescribed an antibiotic. They drew a line with a pen at the edge of the redness. If it gets much past the line, they are putting her into the hospital. So far so good. It's a tiny bit bigger, but not by much and that was over 5 hours ago. I think we may be on the mend. She thinks she may be feeling a little better, too. What a day! I'll keep you informed.

Oh Merry... I just caught this... first Happy Birthday to you.. and then how is your daughter??? I remember this so vividly....chicken pox is an illness that is so difficult to watch.. between being itchy, the high fevers and not being able to eat... you must be so worried..

Tell your son that he may not get it.. I had two with chicken pox and my middle daughter and I, (I have never had it) were there all the time taking care of the other two and never got it..

Please update us when you can.. Hugs to all.

I almost forgot. The test results came back. Our son is immune. The first thing he did was give his little sister a big hug.

I am SO glad you insisted on going in. Our friends waited one day too late to be pushy. I think they got your DD's in time. :D
Chicken Pox can really be a serious disease. So sorry hers turned out to be so bad.
Glad your DS is immune!

I am so glad you were on top of things and got her to the Dr. I truly hope she is feeling better soon.:)

I'm glad they were able to treat the infection. Sounds like they gave her a big dose

Lots of comfort and anti-itch pixie dust. I hope tonight is better for all of you.

Oh my... I just found this thread and read it from beginning to end. I am so so so glad you took your DD in to the doctor - based on your concerns. It never pays to ignore our motherly instincts.

I am delighted that she seems to be doing better. Hopefully when she is out of the dark woods... you can take a much needed rest and CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY!

I can tell from your post you are a very caring and loving mother. Your daughter will remember the concern and attention you gave her during this time that she feels sooo rotten... a lasting impression for her lifetime. Good job and HUGS to you - I know you must be about all worn out by now.

I just found this...while chicken pox can cause a low grade fever, a high temp is NOT normal. When my middle son had it he ran high temps and the pediatrician insisted on seeing him immediately...they had us go through the back door. Turns out he had a strept throat on top of the pox. He was a sick puppy. I am SO glad you took her in. Hope she is feeling better soon!

Merry, How is she today? I have been under the weather and am just getting back on. I am so glad you took her in. I agree with DopeyRN. High fevers are not usual. Hope she is still improving tonight.

We are watching the swelling and red area. It has spread some past the line the doctor drew on her leg today, but the new red area is mottled and not painful like the original swelling. We called the doctor on call tonight and he said to watch it for another hour or so. If it changes any for the worse, we go to the hospital. If her fever goes any higher tonight or she has chills, we go to the hospital. We should continue to watch it every hour all night for change. If it isn't any better by morning we are to go into the doctor's office.

Any of this make sense to you guys? I'm so tired and worried I don't know what to think. Poor baby is praying that she won't have to go to the hospital. She doesn't want an IV. I've promised to stay with her if she has to go and I think that helped.

Wow, Melissa!!:( I just said a prayer for her and you. You must be exhausted!:(

I can't remember when I've been so tired. It has been a really long week. Tonight I guess we can at least take turns giving pills and checking the swelling. It's been just me during the week.

She's pretty comfortable. She smiled when I asked her. It hurts a lot if you touch the original swelling, but isn't too painful otherwise unless she stands up.

She's on the couch watching an old movie with her Daddy and looks about to fall asleep.

Ewww!! Yuck!! That poor girl!!! :( Melissa, that's a bad case, imo. Gosh, I hope some more Pixie Dust & Prayers will speed her recovery along ~ They're on the way!

She's in the hospital, so she can have an IV. I'll get back to you guys when I'm home again. I'm just here for a minute to get some clothes, but I'll we're sleeping in shifts. I'll try to give you the scoop later today. Thanks for the prayers.

Oh my:( . I'm glad she is in the hospital so she can get the treatment and care she needs. That infection does look nasty. I pray she responds to the IV antibiotics. Please do keep us posted.

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way. Hang in there. {{{{hugs}}}}
