So i've been thinking today about this college program internship, i got accepted to it as a custodial worker, but i've been having second thoughts. I decided i wanted to do the program because i'm graduating in December and i don't know what i want to do after i graduate i don't know what kind of job i want or anything and i thought that maybe the college program would help me to gain some much needed experience for my resume as well as help me get some real world experience to help me with my major which is Communications. I was hoping that i could do the college program from Jan to June after i graduate in December and then try to apply for a professional internship after that. but when i got on the internship website most of the internships required that you still be in school. and i wont be. so what should i do? is this a dead end for me come June? am i going to waste 4 months of my life scrubbing toilets and not doing anything pertaining to my communication degree, or will i have a chance for a real career after this. i don't want to spend the next year of my life making little to no money and moving to a dead end. help me out please!!!

I say go for it. I'm a biology major and I got accepted for merchandise which has absolutely nothing to do with the career I want! However, I'm using this opportunity to work my butt off and network with people in my field of interest. My uncle works in the communications dept. over at Disney and gets paid quite well so you'd definately be able to network and learn from people there. Good luck in whatever you choose!

thanks a lot frazzle i totally wasnt thinking about that it would most deff be a great idea to go and get some networking done i mean it is all about who you know most of the time

your good frazz, i didnt expect to be talked back into it so quickly its settled im goin. are you spring or spring advantage? ill be checkin in on tha 26th

Congratulations on your degree and congratulations on your CP acceptance. Is the CP a good “career move”? It’s not a bad one; the advantages to be gained at WDW have more to do with the opportunities that exist for training, leadership development, networking, etc. There is so much within reach right there if you take advantage of it. Alternatively, you can put in your hours, go home and party, sleep, and come back to work the next day. You are in complete control over your experience. Nobody will be impressed that your scrubbed toilets at WDW, but they'll be impressed if you can put a positive spin on the experience when you talk about it. For example, when I got my first frontline front desk role I got a feel for the territory and then tried to set myself apart by taking an interest in operations and developing my leadership skills through observation. I was able to talk about that experience during future interviews, even though what I did wasn’t earthshaking.

Go for the CP. It’s just for a few months. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
