I need help with signing in please!

Hi guys!

I have been signing in VMK for over 2 years with no problem. Then all of a sudden 2 days ago I sign in, and it sits on the black screen and nothing happens. However, sometimes it randomly works. I have deleted shockwave and fash, restarted my computer, downloaded them both again, restarted again, and it is still not working. Everytime I go to login it tells me I have to download the current Shockwave. Does anyone know the solution to this problem, or has ever encountered it? I need to get this solved. If you guys can help that would rock!

Uninstall shockwave and see if it leaves any registries behind.

for two days I've been getting the "you need shockwave" message thing when I try to log in. I have shockwave and did the update two ago....but since that day it keeps telling me I need to get it. Not the same problem as you but still shockwave might be part of the issue. I clicked to log in anyway and sat at black screen for a while, hit the refresh button and finally got in, but it's been slow logging in for two days now. Good luck, I really hope you can figure it out so you can get in to attempt the crazy quest.

I am going through the exact same thing with my laptop! I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and restored the hard drive. Nothing is working! Even when I can get in, I crash before I can do anything! ARG!!

Me too. I keep getting the shockwave notice. I've uninstall, etc, has no effect.

Add that to an already terrible dc day and it means I'm not even trying anymore, just reading everyone's frustrating experience on the DIS.

I actually think it has something to do with the recent Shockwave update. VMK is not working with it. I think something has to be done on their end.

Try this:

Go to the Shockwave download site and hit the install now button.

Immediately after that download, restart your computer and go to the vmk sign in page. Sign in. Hopefully, you will immediately see a white page that says something like 'shockwave is installing'. Let it finish and immediately restart your computer.

Then, go back to vmk and sign in. You will still get the pop up that says you need to upgrade the Shockwave and ask you if you want to do it 'now' but hit cancel and do not install it again.

Hopefully, the screen will go black for a little while but your vmk sign in WILL work. I just tried all this with my laptop and it worked and let me into vmk.

That is what I had to do yesterday and today I am still getting the pop up like you said, and hitting cancel, so it does work. It's just so annoying lol. And I do wonder if the shockwave update is contributing to all my crashing...I've never had this much crashing. I know there are other factors, but I think it's not helping.

Yeah, I don't know what is going on. I have XP Media and I wonder if the update isn't compatible, somehow.
