Hi there,
I'm sure this has been asked time and time again. But--this is our first trip as a family to Disney. Kids are DD10, DD8 and DS6. We will be in Disney the week of Thanksgiving. We are staying off-site, sharing a house with another family. Even though we will be eating at "home" quite often, I still want my kids to experience some of Disney's restaurants.

On my to-do list is Cinderella's Round Table--but which night would be best for dinner?

Prime Time Cafe--should I bother? I remember it being very fun.

TRex on our last day--lunch on Saturday the 24th.

House of Blues (I have a restaurant.com gift certificate.)

Tomorrowland Terrace or California Grill for fireworks?

I also would like to do a character breakfast, but I have no idea which one would be the most fun for my kids.

So I am overwhelmed! :confused3 Any advice would be so much appreciated!!

We've done 3 character breakfasts: Crystal Palace, Tusker House, and Cape May.

I think Tusker House has the best food of the three, but Cape May has the best character interaction.

California Grill is fine dining and is fabulous. When DH and I ate there, it was a 3 hour experience. Some children will be fine with that, others won't, so make that decision based on knowing your own kids.

Prime Time is fun if you have a server who plays the part. It's pretty crappy to be there when everyone around you is getting the full treatment and your server doesn't participate.

I'm really losing my mind. We will be in Florida the week of Thanksgiving, and I was thinking of TRex on Saturday the 26th of November, not the 24th. But I am looking for any other advice or suggestions!

Prime Time Cafe--should I bother? I remember it being very fun. You'll have a great time, especially if your server is really in character. And we like the food, too.

TRex on our last day--lunch on Saturday the 24th.Can't comment-haven't tried this.

House of Blues (I have a restaurant.com gift certificate.)We like it for adults. Not sure how much your girls would love it

Tomorrowland Terrace or California Grill for fireworks?Cali grill is great for both the food and the Wishes experience. The only way for you to see Wishes from the TT is to buy into the Wishes Dessert Party. This is one thing I will NOT do.

I also would like to do a character breakfast, but I have no idea which one would be the most fun for my kids.Pick a park. Select a character breakfast. Enjoy.:thumbsup2 But if your girls are into the princess thing, then maybe you could do Akershus on your Epcot day, or they might prefer Tusker House on your AK Day. This is a really busy time of year, so I wouldn't waste time having breakfast somewhere other than my park for that day, especially if you are staying off site.

So I am overwhelmed! :confused3 Any advice would be so much appreciated!!

Hope this helps.

Sci-Fi at DHS? Mainly burgers and the like but its THE best atmosphere IMO

I would do Crystal Palace if in MK that day, or Akerhaus if in Epcot. You could schedule the breakfast before park opening, to get in early. There are lots of wonderful photo ops in a nearly empty park, and avoiding the lines to get in is great! If you are planning to go to HS that day, I would suggest Cape May. We enjoy Cape May the most, then CP, then Akerhaus.

I ate at T-Rex and was not a fan. I don't have any kids though so if you think your kids would get a real kick out of it then do it. It's definitely cool inside but the food was nothing to write home about. It's owned by the same company as Rainforest Cafe so the food is very similiar and so is the atmosphere IMO. Reminds me of a Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood too, if you've been there. Typical chain restaurant food. I went there for lunch with no ADR and the place was empty, so even if you decide to go there spur of the moment it might be fairly easy to get into.

1. CRT is lovely - we all enjoy feeling like a prince or princess sometimes.
2. Prime Time - some folks find the food disappointing. Some dislike servers who do not play along. You might also consider Sci-Fi Theater (but food is no better). That said, I also like Prime Time for the atmosphere.
3. T-Rex - why eat at T-Rex when you're already scheduled for Downtown Disney with House of Blues (HoB).
4. HoB - a good bargain is a bargain (see T-Rex).
5. Fireworks - TTerrace is only dessert, I think. CA Grill is very good, but can be pricey with children. Have you considered Ohana - less than CA Grill and you get the fireworks too....of course, the view is not as good.
6. Character Meals - all places are fun and the food can be hit-or-miss at any. My suggestion - location, location, location! Decide where you'd like to be and then eat there. For instance, I see that you have nothing on your list for Animal Kingdom (Tusker House) or Epcot (Akerhaus).....Chef Mickey's seems to get top food review, but is in Contemporary, not a park.....

It's easy for any of us to feel overwhelmed. But you have friends here to help - :dance3:

Thanks so much for your suggestions! Definitely helpful. I like the idea of picking a park for a character breakfast to get into the park early. The last time we were at Disney, my oldest was 15 months old so this is an entirely different experience for us! Thanks so much for your advice!
