I Need help on what to do on New Year's eve! please help me!

Thank you for the tips... my plane will not get to Orlando before 10:30 am on the 31 st... so I guess I'll stay at the resort and make reservations at one of the restaurants in Downtown Disney.... how is that like! is it body to body there too.... ha! ha! no matter what, it should be fun...

We were there last year and were in the same boat. We didn't want to pay Disney resort prices for New Year's Eve and were checking into POR on 1/1, so we got a cheap Ramada for the night and then headed to Fort Wilderness. It was beautiful. We ate a relatively cheap but tasty buffet at Trail's End and then went out to the beach to watch the water parade. We then decided on an impulse to get on the boat to the Magic Kingdom. We didn't go in because we didn't have passes yet, but we then took the boats all around exploring resorts we would never have set foot in otherwise like Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge and the Poly. By a stroke of fate we were on a boat when the captain said he was going to go out to the middle of the water and stop right in front of the castle so we could watch the fireworks. It was an amazing night. And other than dinner, it was all free.
