We are going to WdW in less than 3 weeks. My parents are taking my family, my MIL and my DB and his fiance. My parents told us about the trip last Dec. They did not want our kids to know. We have a DS9 and a DD3.5. My son has been asking alot of questions theses days. My mom wants me to keep up a good face. But, she does not live with these kids from day to day! There have been so may times that I wanted to say, "if you keep acting that way we won't go to Disney" "If you are potty trained by Dec. grandma and grandpa will take you to Disney." Then we are at Walmart tonight and my son wants to go through the tow section to "see what he wants for Christmas." I wanted to be like, "hey, there will only be a few small gifts under the tree so choose wisley." Then he tells me that he would be okay if he did not get a thing for Christmas - he does not need anything. He is a very nice kid (but maybe he knows!). Thanks for letting me vent! This has been a very hard secret to keep. Can't talk to DH about the trip when the kids are around and have to talk in code all the time. Just hope one of my uncles does not blow it at Thanksgiving ("So I hear grandma and grandpa are taking you to Disney for Christmas.")

We never tell our children before we go! We drive and just pick them up one day and say we are going on an adventure - we begin every vacation like this. The last time we were there my DD began to suspect in Florida but she was good and played along. DS was clueless. As we drove onto WDW property he saw the buses and said, "It's not fair those people are going to WDW!" We still laugh about it.

It is tough. You want to talk about everything where you are going to eat, what you want to do. But you can't so you end up biting your tongue forever.

Sometimes we think they know but nope. Next month we are going to Miami and I think they suspect we are going to WDW too. We are not. We were but when the 4/3 deal came out we moved it to January. I think it will be a much bigger surprise then. :)

Only a little while longer. This is a great place to release your Disney engergies.

I know it is really hard, but it will be well worth it just to see the looks on their little faces! We did this one year, we drove from PA and all the way there they kept asking where we were going. When we arrived at the arch that goes across the road into Disney, they were amazed. So even though it is tough, you can do it.

Duct Tape has so many uses...:rotfl2: Keep trying it will be so worth it in the end to see the surprise on their face. At Thanksgiving I would kinda get anyone who knows about the trip aside and tell them to keep thier mouths shut as well. If you cannot blow the secret then I would not allow someone else to.:thumbsup2

duct tape sound like a good idea!;) I think I will email all my aunts today and have them talk to my uncles to keep their mouths shut:scared1:

We've never done it for our past trips, but for the one next April we are keeping it a secret until a few days out, and even then are only planning on telling them we are going away, not where. I'm sure they will guess once they see our boarding passes though. They were talking the other day about Disney and that they wanted to go on Splash Mountain - totally random. They are 13 and almost 9 and it's tough to make sure I don't slip, so I feel your pain. I love to plan and discuss and ask what everyone wants to do/see/eat... maybe DH went along w/ the surprise idea so I don't chat his ear off about WDW for the next 4 months:rotfl:
Well, hang in there, remind the relatives of the secret, and look forward to the huge smiles on your kids' faces when they find out

This is so hard for us too! My mom and DH and I are chipping in to take my 2 nieces to Disney in January (mom isnt going but she is paying for 1/2) as their Xmas gift.

Normally there are a ton of gifts for the kids under my tree but this year there will just be a few little things, hints for them to reveal the big gift. So both kids are already telling us what they want for Xmas and I have to remind them that it will be just a few things this year.

I so want to tell them and it is killing me keeping this secret! 1 more month to go before the big reveal night!

I actually wish we hadn't told our kids about our trip last month - and will definitely not tell them the next time. There is only so many times I can listen to "how many more days until we go??????" "That's not fair - I wish we were going now" "That's too long - I want to go NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Next time they aren't finding out until we head for the airport!
