well i need help as i'm planning our wedding. its a small wedding of 15 max so we are not having the traditional reception. my idea was to book a table at one of disney's many restaurants.

i would like to be able wear my wedding dress there which means that a restaurant in the parks is out of the question. Our ceremony is at sea breeze point at the boardwalk but the time is currently flexible so it can be either lunch or dinner.

i would like to have a bit of specialness (i know i made the word up) to it as its our wedding after all but i don't want the menu to be too fussy as that isn't us or our families.

i thought it could be nice to see wishes with us all in our wedding attire but this is not essential and we will be staying at the animal kingdom loge on our wedding night if this helps.

any suggestions?

Hmm.. since you'll be near the Boardwalk.. you could always go to Yachtmans Steakhouse at the Yacht Club.. I went there last year and the food was excellent..

Don't know how they would handle such a large crowd.. but its worth a shot!

The Yachtman is a good choice - I have have a birthday party of 12 last year - not a problem - just need to call the restaurant to book your seating they are only open for dinner - 5:30pm - 10:00 pm.

They have great cakes there are if you special order one for there there on site bakery dept is awesome. I've had 8 special order cakes there over the last 2.5 years.

Congrats on your wedding!

I'm getting married at Seabreeze point also in April '09 - Great location!

If California Grille could accomodate you, that would be a very nice way to end your day and you would be able to see Wishes all dressed up! :thumbsup2 Or maybe Narcoossees as that would probably be a bit quieter. And the Grand Floridian is definitely romantic! :lovestruc

I have found that most of the restaurants, even the 'fancy' ones have something for the plain food eater, ya know?

My first thought was Yachtsman Steakhouse too. Good food, not fussy but totally nice enough for a wedding dinner/lunch.

I haven't been to Spoodles in a long time but I thought it was a very "pretty" restaurant that would be a more laid back, family style place to have dinner/lunch. It felt homey to me when we went.

I can't wait to hear what others might suggest.

Best Wishes!

loving the responses so far havn't checked out the yachtmans so will have a little look.

oh and i forgot to mention that husband to be is quite scared of seafood so that might sway things

Call California Grill and see how much it would be to have your dinner in their private dining room (not the wine room). It is a separate private dining area where we've dined for Food & Wine events at various times. It has a spectacular view of the fireworks and would, IMO, be a most memorable place for a wedding dinner. I think it probably seats 40 or so, but they might consider serving a smaller group in there if you ask nicely.

Also, V&A is most memorable. There is an area at V&A that can be closed off for private parties. It's very pretty with fireplace.

You might want to check on a private dining room at Shula's or Il Mulino. I don't know if they have them or not.

Other than that, I find Disney restaurants way too noisy and insane with kids running all over to enjoy a nice wedding dinner. I'd probably look at places
off-site.

I would try the California Grill. It seems like it would fit well with a wedding party and a bride in her dress. A few years ago we had an early dinner there and there were no kids anywhere to be found and it was quiet, lovely and peaceful. Maybe if you plan for a later dinner - so you're there when Wishes begins - it will also be less crowded? It's all luck.

You could do Narcoossee's or any other place along the Boardwalk, but you will be unable to see Wishes from there. You are able to see parts of Illuminations however.

You could order a small wedding cake for the end of your celebration. :goodvibes

Congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful wedding!

california grill seems to be a popular choice! i also pondered over the dinner show at the poly but havn't heard the best reviews for it. has anyone been and what is it like? the food choice seems really limited is the menu on all ears accurate?

keep the suggestions coming.

CA Grill does have a couple of private rooms, so you could have a nice dinner for a small wedding party there without the aggravation of being in the main (and very noisy) dining room. They also have very good food at CA Grill. :thumbsup2

The ultimate dinner for me, if I were in your shoes, would be at Victoria and Albert's. Incredible food and service in a very elegant setting. And they could probably custom-design your dinner so that everyone would be happy.

Congratulations! :goodvibes

I'll second the many posts for California Grill. It would fulfill your desire for "specialness" and the ability to see Wishes.

However, if getting from the Boardwalk to the Contemporary is a problem (do you have private transportation?) in your wedding dress, I would recommend Il Mulino. They have several small rooms that could give you privacy, the food & atmosphere are fantastic (as are the wine and the service). They have a "For Groups" function right on their website.

Congratulations and Good Luck! :flower3:

In addition to the California Grill or Victoria and Albert's, maybe give consideration to Citrico's or Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian.

Also, have you asked around the wedding board for suggestions?

I would go for the private room at Citricos or the wine room at Jiko (not sure if they use the Jiko room for private gatherings but I would guess they do).

congratulations! I was also married at Disney and I can say you will not be dissapointed!

I would suggest posting this over on the wedding boards. Many girls who have had Escape weddings have planned marvelous things afterwards that they can help you with. Everything from a private dessert party at EPCOT, using the small private room in Citricos, a private room at The CG (beware there is a min to contend with if you go that route).A dinner at V&A's etc.

Also your planner should be able to help you get a great reservation.

i did a post on the wedding boards but i thought since you guys know all about food that you would also come up with great suggestions.

i always liked the idea of a dessert party but i think our finances won't be able to stretch that far.

Tinkanddonaldfans, I am a SBP escape bride to be as well :goodvibes

Just wanted to let you knowthat the cost for the dessert party does not have to be horrendous, especially for a group as small as yours, if this is what you really want to do. Currently, the menus start at $22 per person. There is a venue fee (you would probably be placed in Morocco, which I believe is $250, because of your group size. This is where ours will be as well). The setup for furniture etc is $75 (tables and chairs if you want them). We are guessing at $800 - $1000 for our event, including the viewing fees ($12.95 pp) for those without admission.

Many of the restaraunts that have been suggested on this thread (which are wonderful ideas, oh how I wish we could do a private event at V&A's!) will have food and beverage minimums you MUST meet for their private rooms, nearly all of which are higher than this $750 to $1000. It is all personal preference and what YOU want. If you really want a dessert party, though, it could easily be within your budget!

PM me if you want more info. That way I won't have to pirate: anymore!

I'm sure your guests will enjoy whatever you do!

Yep...It can be more reasonable than you think. Plus you could have finger foods like cheese and fruit etc.

What type of budget are you looking at?

I was at Spoodles in 2007 while I was there a small wedding party (probable around 20) came in they were seated in the back--no problerm. The bride also wore her wedding gown.
