A month or two ago I checked with Natalie to see what font she used on her "2008" autograph cards - it's Segoe Script. At the time there were some of the 'new' characters missing from that collection...she has since added them (Tiana, Naveen, I forget who else) but not Terence. So rather than bug her I was going to do it myself. I managed to muddle through and get the rest of the card to look like one of her "2008" style autograph cards, but I can't get the name to look right - it just looks sort of flat and not all plump and happy like hers do. I figured I could figure it out...but I figured wrong. Can someone please, please, please tell me what I'm doing wrong and/or fix it for me? (I have an old copy of MS Digital Image Pro and I also have Adobe Photoshop CS 3). Thank you :)

In Photoshop double click on the text layer and when the effects open, put a checkmark by "Bevel and Emboss" and "Contour" (if you like). Click on the actual words (like Bevel and Emboss) and you can change the settings. Play around with them; see what they do. :goodvibes Nice page by the way. :)

OK - I'm no pro, no doubt about that, but I think I did a respectable job finishing this one in a reasonable approximation of a Natalie-style autograph card. http://s890.photobucket.com/albums/ac106/catpowers/?action=view&current=Terence-1.jpg

Thanks again for the tip(s) Joanna, I could've been at it for months before I stumbled on that stuff and still missed it. Guess I should invest some time in the tutorials....it all seems pretty overwhelming which is why I keep avoiding it :scared:

You did a GREAT job! It looks just like Natalie's. Don't be afraid to play around with things in your photo editing program. I love to play around with them to see what all they can do. Of course you have to play around with them frequently or you will forget where everything is...

Thank you! I'm going to start playing with CS3, I guess there's no point in having it if I'm not going to use it. I'm totally OCD when it comes to stuff like that though....so I took ridiculous notes when I was figuring out how to do Terence's name - screenshots with SnagIt & all - so if I need to go back & do it again, I'll be able to do it. See? OCD much?!

If CS3 is a little more difficult than you can handle...try photoshop elements. It can do most of the things the CS3 can do but takes fewer steps. CS3 is what most professionals use as they are more interested in manipulating every little thing in pictures.
