Dh and I are considering going to Disneyland Paris for our anniversary.

We go to WDW yearly.

We are pooh sized people.

We would be flying in on a Friday I think and staying for a week.

I have so many questions.

How many days should we spend in the parks? (we usually go to Disney for at least 9 days and visit the parks multiple times)

I love to shop!! But what is there to buy there? As I understand it there isn't much shopping for plus size clothes. What other things is there to shop for?

Are there other things we should do in Paris? I don't think I am one for museums.

I don't speak French. Will that be a problem?

What is the weather like in mid August?

How much will this trip cost?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can give me ideas if this would be worth it or not.

Thank you.

Welcome to the DLP board

Three days will give you a chance to see DLP without rushing too much. Weekends are usually busier than week days - I presume this is also the case during the summer holidays.

Do you want to stay in Paris, near DLP, or do a split stay?

Not knowing any French won't cause any problems at DLP - lots of CMs speak English. A few words would probably be helpful in Paris itself - even if it's not necessary, it's always appreciated.

A trip to Paris and, as you're there, a visit to DLP, will always be worth it! :goodvibes

Well, I always look at it this way - Disney is just part of a wonderful, exciting world waiting to be explored. While I love my Disney trips (and am fortunate enough to visit a Disney park about 4x a year) I would not forego visiting other parts of the world just to do Disney.

That is my way of saying 'if you have never been to Paris, put Disney second on the list.'

I would see DLRP in about 3 days and leave the rest for Paris, preferably moving into Paris for that part of the trip.

As to shopping - there is not a lot of souvenirs like in America at DLRP - most Europeans don't wear as much character clothing as in the US (except Sandra did once post some very chic Mickey themed clothing from a European designer!) Mostly it is things for children, paper products, items for the home, etc. So you wouldn't be in the minority if you didn't buy clothes!

Shopping in the rest of Paris? I would suggest Sephora, since you dont' have it in Canada (although it is more expensive in France than in the US), accessories, shoes, food products, etc.

Shopping for groceries at Monoprix is a great way to find gifts for those at home or yourself, especially if you have never been to Europe. I hate shopping but have spent hours in Galleries Lafayette. I love to buy handbags, scarves, shawls, tights, etc there. Paper products ie stationery is another thing I like to buy in Europe. I don't buy the touristy type things but always manage to bring back great memories. I am currently using some handbags I bought in France and receive many compliments - every time I think of my last trip there.

Read the stickies at the top of this board - they are very useful.

And don't expect DLRP to be the same as WDW. Have you been to DL in California? DLRP is more like that, with its own charm and beauty.

I can't comment on the French language as I do speak French, but as you live in Canada start reading the back of cereal boxes and watching Radio Canada to get some basics. ;)

Disney Land Resort Paris is as you know a lot smaller then WDW.
It all depends with what speed you go through the park and the timings
(also you can do double the attractions when there are less people in the park that day)

As such it is really hard to decide howmany days you need but, I think
4 or 5 days would be enough.

I love to shop!! But what is there to buy there? As I understand it there isn't much shopping for plus size clothes. What other things is there to shop for?

Again there are less shops then WDW but, enough to get what you want.
You can get a lot of products: shirts, books, glass items, (even you can buy
a car (oldtimer), shoes etc... etc..

Are there other things we should do in Paris? I don't think I am one for museums.

some ideas:
Musée du Louvre
Arc de Triomphe
Musée d'Orsay
Bateaux Parisiens River Cruise
Crypte archéologique de Notre-Dame
Open Top Bus Tour
Châteaux de Versailles
Panthéon
Centre Pompidou

I don't speak French. Will that be a problem?

That is not a problem

What is the weather like in mid August?

How much will this trip cost?

That all depends on the hotel, extra shows, amount of money you spend
on food and gifts, etc..
