I need help convincing my DH to go back

We went to Disney in Nov 2005. At the time I remember making the comment that while it was a great and unforgetable vacation I wouldn't have to go back for some time. Well here it is just a little over a year later and I'm itching to go back......on the verge of obsessing.....I'm visiting these boards way too much! I've easily been able to convince my 7 yr old ds that Disney is the place for us. Only problem is DH does not want to go back. Says we've already done everything there. He really wants to go somewhere else. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I'd really like to get him excited about it.....and while I can probably convince him with a lot of begging, I'd like for him to really want to go. I just think our son would have even more fun the second time around and me too!!!! I could do a much better job planning for a second trip since I've been there once.

Of course another trip to Disney really not only hinges on getting my DH on board but also some sort of discount made available and a stay at either a Value or Mod Resort. Last time we stayed at AKL w/ free dining. So the Value or Mod Resort will also make it a hard sell to DH.

Any suggestions?

I'm so sorry and I feel for you...I am a TOTAL MANIAC when it comes to WDW, and my husband is wonderful and gives me free reign over our vacations there (he really does love it too as do my kids...).

Maybe start to talk about the things that you haven't seen and done while you were there last. I've been many many many times and I still haven't done it all. You can have an entirely different vacation experience...visit the Beach club (I think that is a mod resort) and hang out on the sand. Cirque du Soleil (sp?) is another fun option to add. Or how about a fireworks cruise, fishing, golf or minigolf, biking, the water parks??? The possibilities are endless...Disney World isn't only about the parks (although they are addicting, aren't they? ).

I am lucky my DH goes along with it, but he pretty much voices how much he dislikes Disney when the kids aren't around. We compromise by staying offsite at a condo or vacation home (this year it's Windsor Hills), and spending a few days at Sea World too (we love it). Also, we have priced out other vacations and we can't beat Orlando in terms of price, and a cheap, direct flight. Also, with a beach vacation, you become very dependant on the weather being perfect.

What about pointing out new attractions? Or taking a look at booking a special behind-the-scenes tour? Or going for a special event like MNSSHP? My family has been so many times over the years, but there's still so much we haven't seen/done! We're making it a point on trips now to always do something new.

Are there rides you couldn't ride last time because your ds didn't meet the height requirements? He can probably ride those rides now. What about EE? That wasn't there on your last visit, was it? Good luck. My dh isn't really a Disney fan either; but he knows how much "his girls" enjoy it, so he goes with us. However, we also take a few trips without him. That way we can get our fix in between family trips.

Pehaps you could compromise and do a Disney cruise. Cruises are fun and it would be in the Diseny theme.

My DH loves WDW as much as I do, so it's not that I have to convince him to want to go, but to spend the money to go. We have decided to go in December and stay at a value resort to cut costs. Plus, last year we spent VERY LITTLE time in our resort, so it makes sense. DH actually made the decision because we want to go as many times as we can while the magic is still there for our kids. They are 5 and 3 and DD will be 6 on our next trip. Yes, I still find it magical at 30-something, but she is still very much into princesses and we want to take advantage of that.

Does he like golf, water sports, or anything like that? There is just so much to see and do at WDW, as many times as we have been we have yet to see and do it all. Plus, the kids enjoy different things at different ages. I have to say, though, we DO enjoy trips to other places too.

I always order the new vacation planning DVD and make a big production of watching it. Pizza in front of the tv which is big because we NEVER eat/snack in front of the tv. I focus on all the new activities/rides and there are some good ones since 2005.

I agree w/ other poster about determining what DH likes and finding a way to fit that in. Maybe tell him about the fishing, boat rentals or Richard Petty experience. Tie it in with Spring Training if he's a baseball fan and see a game at the Wide World of Sports. Is there a particular Disney hotel that might get him interested? What about camping (tent or RV) at Fort Wilderness?

I'm lucky because my DH lets me plan our trips. We always seem to go back to WDW!
