I will be attending a 6 day convention late in May.

We know Disneyland intimately, but have never stayed at the Anabella. Reviews I have found seem either suspiciously bad or suspiciously good. ;)

The Anabella is around the corner from the Convention Center which makes it a good "moderate" choice. We have a room in the "Club Concierge" building.

Can I hear the good, bad, and the ugly from my fellow Dis-ers?

I stayed there and didn't care for it, but that was back in 2001. I was there with a family of 4 kids, and the hotel staff seemed to look down on us. I think they cater a lot more to the convention goers, not the regular disney tourists. They didn't have the room types we were told we would get. When we planned on getting 2 doubles, a twin and a queen doesn't work (to sleep 4). They were rude about the continental breakfast. Hopefully things have changed since then.

I was actually one of the people that left a negative on tripadvisor. (towards the top, from Arizona). The hotel room we stayed in was nice enough, but the staff was awful. Rude and not helpful in the least. We won't be staying there again.

Has anyone been there in the past year?

Some of my family members went there in October and had the worst experience there. They posted on Trip Advisor and also on this board. You can so a search on it and type in Annabella Hotel on this board. They would not recommend the hotel at all.

We stayed there in Spring 2004. No complaints about the staff. We thought the hotel was fine--no problems. However, I couldn't tell you much about it because we weren't blown away by it. We got a great deal on it and looked on it as such--a great deal. Nothing horrible, but nothing really special either. If you're looking to save money and not be in a dump, I think it's a fine choice.

I was there for one night on my recent trip, and I'm going to have to go with the others and say to skip it. The place is nice enough, and the staff is definitely trying, but I had problems with my room that just should never happen (things like significant plumbing issues with the shower, the bedframe breaking, and being interrupted at 3 in the morning by maintenance for a call I didn't make.) I suppose your experience could be different, but I don't think I'd be likely to stay again.

We had no problem with our 10 day stay in November. I think our building was the Santa Barbara and we were on the ground floor. We talked to other couples at the pool (very nice pool) and everyone was pleased with their rooms. The rooms were clean and the bed was fine, there were no bugs or ants.
In our limited contact that we had with the staff they seemed pleasant enough, We asked directions a couple of times from the bell boys, and I was given free access to the computers and internet access on 2 nights when I needed to send a quick e-mail and print some maps.

We did eat one night at the tangerine grill and it was only so-so, the waiters were attentive but the meal was pricey for what we ordered, we would eat there again if we did not have a car but if you have a car better to go to Mimi's or the Rain Forest IMO.

I just asked my DH what his thoughts were on the Annabella and he said he liked it there, especially liked being able to drive right up and park right in front of the room when unloading souvineers, snacks etc. but said it would not be his choice if we did not have a car as the walk would be pretty far (I am handicapped so if you are very fit this would not apply).

We called direct and were given a rate of 89.00 a night for a mini suite which had the queen bed and sofa bed in the main room plus a little seperate room with another single with it's own TV which my teenager thought was great.

All in all it was good value for the money, I have read the reviews where people had problems with the AC or plumbing but we had no issues with our room. Our bathroom was completely new looking (very nice) so maybe the Santa Barbara building has already been upgraded. The people we met at the pool also had new bathrooms and they were in a different building. I would imagine you would have no problems at all in a premium or deluxe room, for sure those must be upgraded.

We have stayed there 3 times with our most recent visit this past Sept. We got a great deal and it is definately a budget/moderate hotel. The room and bath was clean. The staff was more than helpful and did not encounter any rude staff that others seem to run into during their stays.

As a matter of fact, we arrived very late on our first night and they sent someone with us to help carry our bags upstairs from the car to the room. Not a service that they generally offer (or at least not in the past).

Our only objections with the place it that the walls are thin and that it seems they have skimpt on the beds, being that they have not upgraded the mattresses or boxsprings in a while.
