My family and I will be going to WDW at the end of June. I have a lot of questions about which parks we should go to. We will be traveling with a 3 and 5 yr. old. We were thinking MK and MGM. What rides and shows would our kids enjoy the most? Are there any 'must see's? Any strategies that would help us get the most from our stay would be helpful. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Dis EdKelli

You've come to the right place for answers. I'm sure your kids would enjoy Mickey's Toontown Fair. They can meet the characters there and do some kid stuff. :) Here's a link to some info on that. Click here for Toontown info There's also some great Magic Kingdom info there too.

EdKelli,

Give us a little more info. How long are you staying? On you staying onsite or off? What kind of tickets are you getting? All of this will factor in to the answers.

My recommendation is to go at least 5 days and see all the parks. There are things they will love at all of them. Of course, they'll enjoy some of the parks more than others, but it's had to know what they'll enjoy.

MK will probably be the favorite and has the most for kids that age.

Epcot has HISTA, Figment, Univ of Energy (dinosaurs--kids love them), The Land (an interesting boat ride), Maelstrom (a small flume type ride), River of Time in Mexico (a slow/somewhat boring boat ride), SE, and Innoventions. Plus, there are activities at all the countries if you slow down and look for them. Illuminations at closing is a must see.

AK has Safari, Kali River Rapids (your 3 yo is probably tall enough to ride this), Dinosaur (may be a little too scary for them, Lion King show, ITTBAB (3-D movie), and other things.

Make sure you see Fantasmic at MGM and Wishes at MK.

Book a character meal--the kids love them.

As you can see there is a lot to do and see. Post your questions here and people will help you.

Happy planning.

We have done that with a 3 and 5 year old.
Here is what we did:
We fed the kids in the room-once we left the room they wanted to get to the park--not eat breakfast (and it is a lot cheaper)

MK:
1) On early entry days--get there early--fantasyland is still vacant and the kids will more than likely be able to ride most of the rides twice, if not three times before the crowds get thick.
2) Our boys loved Spectromagic and the fireworks.
3) If you do early entry, take a break in the middle of the day--go swimming, take a nap, let the kids run around somewhere--it will make all the difference
4) Attractions they loved:
Fantasyland--everything
Tomorrowland--Buzz Lightyear, Tomorrowland Transit
Authorithy, Indy race cars,
Toontown--everything-especially the Barnstormer
Frontierland--Splash Mountain and BTMRR (they were tall
enough-40 inches)
Adventureland--Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Magic Carpets

MGM
1) Shows/Attractions:
Bear in the Big Blue House, Voyage of the Little Mermaid,
Indiana Jones, Muppets,FANTASMIC (MUST SEE!!!!!), Beauty
and the Beast, Tower of Terror (40 inch height requirement)

AK
1) Shows:
Festival of the Lion King (MUST SEE!!!!), Tarzan Rocks
2) Attractions:
The Boneyard,

EPCOT
1) Imagination-with Figment
2) Making cookies at The Land Pavillion (get there early for that)
3) Running in the jumping waters between Future World and
World Showcase (pack a bathing suit and a towel)
4) Illuminations while eating Funnel Cakes
5) The Malestrom in Norway

Downtown Disney: the LEGO store--hours of cheap entertainment

Those are what we can remember as what the boys really liked and what stood out both to us and to them. Hope this helps.

Best advice:
If you don't have strollers for both- rent a double stroller--
little legs tire easily
Take breaks--the parks are open late at that time of year and
can get crowded
Plan a character breakfast (Chef Mickey's and
Restarauntosarous are our favorite breakfast meals)
Let the little ones decide what you do from time to time (with
the choices limited to what you give them to choose from, of
course--our boys liked telling everyone how they planned our
vacation
Relax (if that's possible)--your kids will adore you just for taking
them to WDW
Hope y'all have a great trip!

Don't forget to schedule pool time and play time - Disney can be exhausting & tired kids don't have happy memories! When my son was younger, his favorite part of our trip was playing in the pool and being the focus of all our attention (that was before he had to share us with his sister!)

Enjoy & take lots of pictures!:wave2:

We took our girls when they were 4 and 6 the first time

and we also fed them before the park except for the character meal morning

they love AK and MK my oldest fave was epcot (still is 4years later)

but except for the honey i shrunk the kids playground MGM was only a half day park for us
they just didn't enjoy it as much

Have fun planning and feel free to ask abunch of questions we LOVE sharing our disney experiences

We took DD 2 1/2 to Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Play house Disney at MGM.. She LOVED it! MGM is great for kids! Lot's of characters to the left of the sorcerer's hat just after the rope drops!

She also loved Muppets 3D at MGM and be sure to se Mickey's Philharmagic at MK... (Along with just abot everything else at MK!)
