This has been some week. We're heading to OKW in early June, but this week is really hard.

I work in a hospital and we have been waiting for Joint Commission to come since February. Well, they decided to come on Tuesday, and I was scheduled to be off that day, so I had to come to work.

Well, Tuesday night we got over 11 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. Our neighborhood flooded and we had to leave our house. We had 1" of water in our house and will be getting all new flooring. On Tuesday night, Bill and our son slept in a hotel. I took the dog and the cats with me to the hospital and slept in my office on a cot. It was not good. Dragged through the day yesterday and we boarded the animals yesterday until we can get something where we can keep the pets with us.

Got a good nights sleep last night, but now Bill is waiting at the house for the contractor to arrive to pull out all the carpet and parquet flooring (that's not already coming up by itself). The house is really smelling bad - yuck. The two bathtubs are full of black stuff. Our son and I will check out a few other extended stay hotels tonight to see if we can move in on Friday. We'll probably have to be out of the house for about two weeks.

Not to mention the Pandemic flu exercise I have coming up the week after I come home from FL. And the week long assessment on our emergency management plan for the hospital the week before we go.

I really, really not only need my king sized bed, I need a vacation SOON.

When we lived in Houston, we had a tree land on our house after Hurricane Alicia and we left for Aruba the next day. I hope the house gets done before we leave on vacation.

Oh, well, I was really wanting new carpet anyway. And I did have flood insurance.

I am so sorry to hear that! I wish there were something I could do to help! No matter what happens, try to keep it out of your mind and enjoy your vacation! Sending you good vibes... :goodvibes

Oh my. I agree that you do need a vacation, but I think it's probably best that you be home to oversee the restoration. I hope that gets done right, and then you go off to celebrate!

I hear you, Deb!!! I hope your house gets repaired quickly and you can move into a clean mold free house with new floors soon! Just think how much you will enjoy that vacation!!!

so sorry!!! It will get better~
you are the smart one with flood insurance - very few houses that need flood insurance get it.

hope the insurance pays for everything and you can move back in before your june trip.

Hey June is only a couple of weeks away.

When it rains it pours :headache: sorry....

Ok, it has to get better from here. And could be worse... I'm sure you know that, from working where you do.

Just a few more weeks... stay strong and keep thinking of that KING bed.

Good luck with everything.

11 inches of rain, unfortunately I wish you could send it here to us. Yesterday my neighbor flicked a cigarette butt on my lawn as she was pulling away and it set my lawn on fire, I was not happy. After Hurricane Rita I got a new roof, but it leaked just as bad as the old one (evil contractor). 2 weeks ago I finally got it repaired, at least I think so! We can't get any rain to test it. But no matter what, in 21 days, I'll be in Orlando at OKW. I'll worry about my roof after that. Focus and repeat after me: Vacation, Vacation, Vacation :woohoo:

Poor Deb, I'm sorry. I hope all is well soon.

So sorry, Deb & Bill, to hear your story. We've had floods in our area and I know the cleanup is hard and I know that smell you speak about (you'll never forget it either). Our thoughts are with you.

June will be here before you know it.

Deb

Oh my Gosh!!!! We definitely need to meed up in June so I can buy you a drink ;) or a turkey leg or both!!!

I know today's weather is not helping if you get caught with what we're getting right now. Hang in there, hope all goes according what you guys need!

Throwing some pixiedust: up to Shreveport!

It's sunny today, the smelly carpet has been removed and we have humidifiers and fans all over the house. Insurance won't pay for us to stay in a hotel, so we're moving back into the house today. A little camping out never hurt anyone. New flooring should start next week or so (as soon as we decide on what we want - thinking all ceramic tile).

Joint Commission has just about finished with us and it's not looking too bad, a few RFIs, but nothing major.

I see a rainbow towards the east - must be WDW.

And, Rob, I get to sleep in my own king bed tonight. :thumbsup2

It does sound like you're in need of a vacation. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Good news - the hospital achieved accreditation once more.

Bad news - we're back in a hotel for three nights while they chemically treat the house to kill the mold. At least we get a free hot breakfast at this one and the pool is open.

But will you have a king size bed at least?;)

Hope the mold leaves quickly. And glad the hospital passed!
I used to HATE inspections. For us the worse one was the FDA at the blood banks. Ugh.

So glad to see things are starting to get better. Just keep counting off the days til your trip. Time will fly by. :)

Oh you poor thing! Sounds like things are moving in the right direction. I really hope everything gets taken care of quickly so you can really enjoy that vacation!

Deb & Bill, I'm so sorry. You're sure in my thoughts and prayers. Heaven knows that nothing with repairs is ever easy, from the insurance to the contractors.

Wishing you your best DVC visit yet!!! At this point, I know you can't wait to get this behind you and just get there!!! :car:

Deb,

I'm sorry to hear how much you've been going through. I've had that kind of life for the last couple of months. Seven members of my twenty member staff have lost close family members due to illness, car accident, and suidcide. We've also just had a big review. One of my staff dislocated her knee cap (not good when you work with young children), one had to have surgery on her infant child and one had a baby. What a semester.

I'm glad you passed your accreditation. We passed our review and that seemed to be the turning point; no bad things have happened since. Our college (I am the director of a child development center at a community college) has been on accreditation probation and we had a big visit in March. We won't hear on our accreditation until January.

I understand your need for a vacation. We couldn't get away long enough to visit Disneyworld, but we leave for Las Vegas next weekend for a few days. That's really been keeping me going.

Good Luck with your flooring. I hope everything goes well
