My Fiance and I are getting married at WDW and we were wanting suggestions for somewhere nice to eat lunch after our wedding. We would still be in our atttire so it has to be one of the restaurants at a resort since we can't go into the parks with our wedding attire.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Ashley

Hi Ashley, and congratulations. Is it just going to be two of you, or a small party, or just family? Reason I'm asking is that maybe if it was a slightly larger group, the wedding arrangment could possibly make arrangements at a place that might not normally be open during the afternoon. However, my guess is that there would be places at either Boardwalk or Yacht and Beach club that might suit you. But check with the wedding planners there, they may be able to make some nice suggestions. No doubt someone else will have so great suggestions that can help.

Ashley,

We also had an intimate wedding, ours was at noon. I'd originally thought we'd go to Artist Point for dinner, but thought that the friction between our families should be kept to a minimum;) so lunch was our only option. I emailed our coordinator who first tried to change our ceremony time so it would be later. No luck there, so our formal dining options for lunch were Portobello Yacht Club, and Fulton's Crabhouse in DD. Lynn sent us pictures via email so we could at least see what they looked like.

We ended up having tea at the Garden View Lounge (note that they couldn't seat all 10 of us together - forgot to ask beforehand!!! but it worked for us better that way anyway). Since then, DH and I have eaten at both Portobello and Fulton's and we've had excellent food and service everytime. Both are $$$$, which is one reason we didn't go there after the wedding. The other reason was transportation issues - easier just to stay at the GF after the cake cutting...

If we could do it over again, we'd probably do a character dinner - I think our guests would've enjoyed that a lot more and then done a fireworks cruise. Or moved the ceremony earlier and done a late character breakfast. After going to V&A that would have been wonderful for DH and I, but I know my meat and potatoes family wouldn't have enjoyed it at all - tea was even stretching their taste buds a teeeny bit too much...

I hope my jumble of thoughts has given you some new ideas and congrats:)

afternoon tea sounds like a great idea! also at the GF, the Grand Floridian Cafe has reopened for lunch. it is not as "fancy" as tea, but the food is very good. congratulations and good luck! :teleport: :earboy2:

Thanks for all the ideas so far! We are thinking about having a tea, both of our families are from the south so everyone loves tea in our family. We're still keeping our options open!

The tea sounds like a good idea. I haven't done it, though the room photos I've seen look very upscale and bridal. Portobello is also a good suggestion; I personally like the decor more than Fulton's.

Where is the ceremony?

The ceremony is as SBP

GF Cafe is a lovely setting. They might be able to do something special at Citricos or AP. Over near EC I would suggest a reception at Flying Fish or Yachtsmans.

The less folks that stay at the Poly, the better chance I get my room requests! LOL! So many of the restaurants in the resorts aren't open for lunch. The ones that are would include Kona Cafe, Whispering Canyon (not really ideal for a wedding party), Garden Galley, and Grand Floridian Cafe. I think I would choose either the Grand Floridian Cafe of the High Tea in the lounge at Grand Floridian.

Congratulations! :bride: :groom:  :lovestruc :flower3:  :love2:

The Concourse Steakhouse is open for Lunch and you can hop on the Monorail to yourselves over to the Contemporary for lunch. Just one more thought although the Tea at GF (comes with different small finger foods/sandwich options) sounds like a winner as well.

Best of luck and congrats.

I think Portobello Yacht Club would be your best choice for a "nice" and elegant type of restaurant. I like Kona's but it is one big room wide open to the lobby.

I had a wonderful lunch at GF Cafe in May, and i really think the place is lovely for a wedding lunch. It's not formal, nor overly expensive, but the location is beautiful, with huge big windows, very bright and sunny - classy place. We had the best service ANYWHERE there. And the food was really really good.

But everyone is right, there just aren't many good choices for lunch. DTD really provides your only 2 more formal locations, but they are both very pricey, and transportation might be an issue. While Concourse, GF Cafe, and Kona are on the monorail.

Good luck, and congrats!

Wow, you all are so helpful! I love all of these suggestions. I'm just glad I have all this time to plan everything out.

Thanks everyone!

Ashley

We were married there and had our reception at the GF. It was excellent.
How many people will be in your party for lunch?

I LOVE WEDDINGS!
First, go to www.disneyweddings.com and read there.
Second, call wedding pavilion have them mail you info. along w/ cost info. so you can "get your hands around this." 407/828-3400.
If you can, take a short trip to see the places you're thinking about, make an appointment and go because there are many options and it can help to see it first-hand. When we did they showed us a variety of places, some we liked, some we didn't, but it did show us options.
If you have an idea in your head - express them. If you don't like the person you begin working with, ask for someone else - they're all nice, but you have to be comfortable.
They have a lot of clout for locations, they'll understand your party-size and they can calso provide ticket and room discounts I haven't seen through anywhere else.
Like anywhere else you'll need to understand clearly your price range and musts vs. would be nice...

What's neat is you can make this as simple or as decorative as you want.
There are some really beautiful locations for small "ceremonies" w/ cake and violinist...
We invited 45 and 26 came. It was wonderful - we decided on a private lunch in the GF conference section, the :octagon" room right off the Mary Poppins garden - (it looks somewhat dismantled now...), but it was beautiful then and everyone who attended still talks about the awesome food!
We had dinner at the CG overlooking the MK castle. Again awesome food.

We were recently at Narcoose's for dinner (night though), food was very good, seems to be a "hot" place for small wedding receptions - and just think if you time it right, you can watch the MK fireworks from their balcony and the water pageant - which I call built-in entertainment. And the potential for great pictures!!!

This sounds like you're planning a destination wedding, is it?
