Over a month ago I sent out invitations to a bunch of friends for a small party that we're planning to celebrate our move to England 10 years ago (it's also our SDD-day! :woohoo:). People replied pretty quickly saying if they would make it or not, rsvp was by Monday. So on Wednesday I go out and order the cake based on the number of people that have accepted and planned food and such for that number. Since then 3 couples have cancelled, nearly all with "oh, we have something else on" or "we're too busy". Come on, you've known for over a month and you let me know the day before the party?!? Not on

So, if anyone is in the Sheffield area and wants to come to our party (it's a dessert party, slightly Disney themed), send me a pm ;)

This is something that really annoys me too. People who can't be bothered to reply OR ones who cancel at the last minute. It's only good manners! :sad2:

I wish I lived in Sheffield. I would be on your doorstep right now. People who let you down like that are really really annoying. Share your party with the people who didn't let you down and enjoy yourself.:goodvibes

Cake? Did someone say cake;)

So sorry about your friend's lack of courtesy - it's a sad reflection of modern society I'm afraid. We have a set of friends who always leave it right to the last minute to confirm they are attending anything we organise - and everyone knows it's because they wait just in case a better offer comes along:sad2:

It used to seriously hack me off, but now I just count them in because we must do a good 'do' since they always come.

I'd love to come but a) live miles away from Sheffield and b) I'll be up to my armpits in my own cake making for DH's cricket teas (can you tell my diet is not so successful:scared1:).

I hope YOU have a great time, that's the most important thing - and please can we have a photo of the cake?

Enjoy :yay:

How rude

I only wish I lived close to you, I'd love to come, unfortunately I'm miles away down south. Hope you enoy it and please post photos! :goodvibes

Sorry you had this problem, we had it too but with our wedding. A couple cancelled 3 days before the day claiming they couldn't afford to come (they really didn't live that far away - maybe an hour up the motorway.) Needless to say we'd already paid for their meals at £50 a head, worked out seating plans etc. What really hacked me off though was when I got back from honeymoon and found he'd just posted pics of a spontanious week away in Spain, loads of pics of them getting off their face drunk and smoking like chimneys. I was not amused.

I've baked my Mickey Mouse shaped chocolate chip cookies, made the white ad dark chocolate mousse and vanilla puddings. DH has gone to pick up profiteroles and the cake from Costco (it is freaking massive!!!). He's also baked some raisin bread to go with the cheese platter (for the guests that don't have a sweet tooth). Will soon start baking my banana bread (have a bread maker so it is dead easy) and then we're pretty much all set.

Picked up some Disney napkins from Asda yesterday (princess ones for the girls and Cars for the boys) (we're all over 30s here)

Photos will be posted tomorrow, promise!

Sounds like its gonna be a fab party, wish i lived closer...I want some cookies :)

Had a really great time with yesterday, still a bit tired. Had too much food and still some cake left over (although I did give everyone a piece to take home)

A few photos as promised, to be found here

That looks lovely! Where did you get your cake from?

The spread looked very impressive. A right old Pudding Party. Hope they all had a sweet tooth

I'm so pleased that your party went well, despite some of your friends letting you down :)

Great pics :thumbsup2

The cake is from Costco, £11.99 and you can choose the flavour and design and have it all personalised. Tasted really good!

We also had a cheese platter to balance things out. Everybody was happy :)

Mmmmmmm, you can send any leftovers my way! :rotfl2:

Glad you had a great time! :goodvibes

That's amazing. What a bargain. I'm off to google costco to see if there is one in my neck of the woods.

I know how disappointing it is when people say they will come and then change their minds. The way I look at it is that, at least you know, those who are there have come because they want to :thumbsup2

Glad you managed to have a good time anyway. We are having a party on Sunday to celebrate DD's exam results (hopefully there will be something to celebrate ;)).
