I need a good file compression program.

Hi all,

I need a good file compression program? The specs i running Windows XP.

I want to able to open Zip, .rar, .jpeg, and .tar. I prefer it to be a free program.

Anyone know of any good progams.

I looked up WinZip, you can get a free trial and it only costs $29.95. I think that is the most user friendly and most common, so it should be compatible with the files you mentioned.

I thought XP comes with it's own unzipping program. I had to unzip a program last nite. I just clicked on the program & it unzipped itself. In the past, I've used Winzip.

Make sure you run an antivirus before unzipping any program you're not sure of where you're getting it from.

do you want to truly compress or are looking foran 'unzip' app? WinRar does a good job for PC's.

Thanks for telling me Windows XP has a unzipping program in it. I will run anit-virus program before run anything.
