2 boys ages 3 and 6, what would you choose for character entertainment and food quality???
1900 park fair
akershus royal banquet
garden grille

I haven't heard great things about any of these...please help:thumbsup2

Another vote for Garden Grill. One of our favorites...Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. It's on our must-do list every time. :thumbsup2

I agree with Garden Grill. I think your boys will enjoy the characters more there than princesses and Alice in Wonderland/Mary Poppins. Plus, you'll be able to dine inside the park rather than go to a resort.

Have your boys seen the old cartoon shorts? I know Wal-Mart has DVDs with new releases of them. Donald Duck with Chip & Dale, Mickey, Goofy - the whole gang.

My kids never grew up on the original Disney characters. So we sat down for a few nights and played these. I was so happy my son loved Donald Duck in his temper tantrums and Chip & Dale - just like me! :goodvibes

After they watched these, Garden Grill was a must!

Definitely Garden grill--1) for the character interaction. The last time we were there, each of the characters came to our table 3 times!! :) It was fun and with 2 little boys you can't go wrong with Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale! and 2) it's all you can eat, but served family style--no need to go to a buffet to get your food since it's all brought right to your table.

My son was 4 (almost 5) when we went to Akershus and he LOVED it. I never expected that he'd like it so much! That would be my first choice.

My 2nd choice would go to 1900 Park Fare. It looks like fun, but I think he'd enjoy the princesses at Akershus more.

The character interaction at Garden Grille is really wonderful, but I really didn't care for the food at all. It honestly wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination; it just wasn't my thing.

The boys may really get a charge out of the Cinderella's snotty step sisters at 1900 Park Faire, they are such a hoot! The sarcasm seems to appeal to kids for some reason

i tried to book akershus but they ask for a credit card???

its one of the only ones that charges if you don't go. I think its because of the personal interactions, and probably the popularity of it. of course, I could be way off track ;)

I would go for garden grille with 2 boys!

This is exactly what I was going to suggest! My kids (boy/girl) just LOVE the snotty stepsisters and thought that Lady Tremaine was super evil. The experience was a lot of fun for our family.

ALSO, I think that 1900 Park Faire has the best buffet food on property (we have done both bfast and dinner)

another vote for Garden Grill.

the princesses might be a little too girly.

I like 1900 park fare but I always find that we have to wait about 45 minutes after our ADR time.

Agree about the food, very good for a buffet!

That's strange, we have dined there several times over the years (most recently over Memorial Day weekend) and have not experienced this. We try to dine around the 6-7PM time frame, maybe that's why we've always been lucky.

I took my nephew to Akershus for the Princess lunch when he was 6 and he was in awe! :worship:He was convinced that he was in the presence of Royalty, which of course he was. It was adorable how much of a fuss the ladies made over him! We had Cindy, Sleeping Beauty (Aurora), Ariel, Jasmine and Belle. Great autograph and photo op. We all liked the food, too.

Honestly, all of the Character Meals are great. I don't think you can go wrong.

I think I have it narrowed down between 1900 and garden grill. I was looking at pictures and wondered what the big thing is in the middle of garden grill?? can you see through it or is it just a big wall?
are there other boys at 1900 park?

There are heaps of other boys at 1900 PF. Mine were 22mos and 7yo last Sept/Oct and they loved it...even though my 5yo dd was over-the-top in love with it. I agree that the buffet is the best, but there are also those who think it's the worst. LOL So, you have to just go with it.
Breakfast seemed much more rushed there than the dinner, and we love the stepsisters and the dinner buffet. Beware though...your sons may get marriage proposals from the stepsisters. :rotfl:

We've been to Garden Grill several times as well. The characters really take a lot of time with you. They also seemed to get more involved with our family rather than just running by for a hug and picture. My 5yo dd wouldn't give Dale the time of day, but he kept coming back to her. He finally broke her around the 4th time and she was so thrilled. So sweet! The food there is yummy, too, we think. Take the boat ride right before. It's pretty cool to see everything from the restaurant view. :)

I'd say Garden Grill, we had an amazing time there last year, and would have gone again, but we are trying new places we hadn't been before. The big thing in the middle is a wall, the center that the restraunt revolves around.

Which other Character Meals are you doing?
