I missed the Military rate for a standard room at PPH

Hi. I screwed up apparently- I didn't realize military rate rooms would go so fast for Mid- August and now only theme park view rooms are available at PPH for an additional $800. I've been calling daily with no change. Does anyone have experience with this and know if they will open up more rooms for military rate or if I just have to pray that someone cancels?

The DLH is now cheaper than PPH and GCH is $200 more (total for the 8 days we will be there).

Any experience with this is much appreciated.

The math isn't adding up for me. Are you saying a military rate theme park view room at the PPH is basically $100 a night more than a standard view room, but the standard view rooms are no longer available? And is the GCH $200 more than the standard view or theme park view PPH room? Is that for a military rate room at the GCH? And have you looked into concierge discounted rates?

sorry- it is confusing isn't it? When I called a week ago the rates were as follows for an 8 day stay (standard room for all w/ tax included) PPH $2196 DLH $2767 GCH $2941. When I called yesterday to book it these were the rates: PPH (only theme park view available now) $2765 DLH $2767 GCH $2941. It equates to- 30% off PPH, 35% DLH 40% GCH

I haven't asked about concierge discounted rates.

Call and ask if there are certain dates that are either more expensive or if the cheaper room is available for part of the trip. Consider a split stay if you can find an offsite room cheaper to make up for the difference.

I booked PPH concierge just to have a ressie. I'm going to call and check room rates; I might downgrade but the thought of the cabana concierge level room would make my son very happy indeed. I wish I had realized at the time I only had to pay for 1 night when I got the $2200 quote; I was thinking it had to be paid in full at the time.

you should ask if the rates have been released. i have called to check the rate thinking it was sold out but it wasn't even available yet. they didn't offer that tidbit. ;)

This is good advice for other hotels too. It is really frustrating to search for a hotel online and their system says no rooms are available. Sometimes it really means all their rooms are available because they aren't taking reservations for that date yet.

The person I spoke with said there might be additional rooms available and I should keep checking in with them to see if any standard rooms are added. I can then change my reservation if I want to.

On another note- has anyone ever stayed in the cabana concierge rooms? The CM told me that it has a patio directly on the pool. (Subject to availability; no guarantee I would get one of those rooms) I'm wondering if the noise level from the pool would be intrusive.

The noise level will go into your room. The slide closes usually around sunset and that cuts some of the crowd. If they are having a movie night it can be loud. The plus of staying on this level is getting out of room to ground floor. The elevators can take FOREVER, but on that floor you could just walk down the tnree flights. Otherwise you are looking at 10 minutes or more to get an elevator.

Those rooms are great. It wasn't swimming season really when we were there but there were definately people in the pool and I never once heard the noise. You will not regret that choice or concierge. Access to the lounge can really take care of your meals. Or at least your caloric needs which is a big savings. I would choose that over standard Disneyland hotel room or anything at the gch everyday of the week.

Thanks! How's the view? Just the pool? I'm rethinking my whole strategy with getting concierge level. I was going to get 9 days worth of tickets so we could go to the parks daily but now I'm thinking I will just do 6-8 and take full advantage of the club and pool area.

If you get conciege level you have an upper level room overlooking downtown Disney and the parks. You can usually get the outline of WofC and then turn tv to channel for music. Same goes for fireworks. You won't see castle images but you can see Matterhorn turn into a volcano if it's still 60th fireworks (which it should be untilseptember).

I think you are thinking of Dianeyland Hotel not Paradise pier.

Why do you want to stay onsite? I'm at a Homewood suites & I don't think I'll ever stay at another brand for now.but there are other reasons than price to choose a hotel.

Actually no. I've done both places and both times I was upper levels with Disney side views.
OK, I'd stayed 14th floor at the PPH and on the north end of the building. I found the view of DTD and fireworks to be minimal. I did love the view of DCA. I also hated the elevators. The Concierge Cabana rooms are nice, but don't have a view.

We've stayed in a cabana room 4 times. The Cabana rooms are considered STANDARD view from a pricing standpoint, either Concierge or non-Concierge. They are the few rooms that have adjoining doors available. Concierge can either be with Theme Park View (like the previous poster said) or Standard View.
We prefer the Cabana rooms because it seems to add a little extra something to a STANDARD priced PPH room. There is convenience to the pool and deck for FW viewing, but the view is of the pool deck (the pool is elevated)....but still a better view then a parking lot IMO. If you have Concierge privileges, it is nice to get your food and beverages on a tray and then eat on the patio table off your room. Like other's have said, the elevator situation is much better on this level also.
We sleep with a sound machine/fan so I have not noticed much noise except for muffled laughing/carrying on from the pool area. In the summer (maybe all year, I'm not sure) we can sometimes hear the afternoon pool party, it is a little louder but nothing that wasn't muffled.

I like staying on site for EMH- coming from the east coast getting up early isn't a problem. Also planning down time this trip so want a pool that my 8 yo DS will love. And room service; a couple nights we were so tired that it was lovely having dinner in the room. Might not need it this time with the concierge lounge but I like knowing it's an option.

The cabana room are my family's favorite as well, but we tend to dislike rooms with adjoining doors due to poor noise insulation. I just wanted to point out that our 13th floor theme park view room last weekend had an adjoining door, so it's not ONLY the cabana rooms that have them.

No view from the cabana rooms but you can walk right out onto your private patio and out the private gate to the pool deck and get plenty of view. I prefer that over the view rooms on a higher floor that may have elevator issues. I think you will feel more taken care of with concierge and more at home. You will recognize the staff there after 2 days.
