I don't know how many of the old collectors are still here. I check in every once in a while but now that I had to cut down on pins I don't post often. I only buy what I like now, can't do traders anymore.
I miss the old gang. I remember when we were one of the top posted boards on DIS. I remember the Thursday night chats when we talked about pins once in a while but mostly about our families, lives and trips to WDW.
I miss the waiting in line for pins. I know alot of people like the RSP but those 3 am waits in line, talking to everyone and trading were fun.
I can't afflrd the events anymore and even if I could get to WDW for the weekend I can't anymore. WDW has scheduled them on my grandson's birthday and I can't go to an event when he is having a birthday party.
Now that I am on disability I have to start pruning my collection and selling some pins. But I look at them and can't decide which ones I want to sell. Every pin I have has some meaning to me. I either waited in line to get it, made a trade with a wonderful person for it, or someone sent me it either in a swap or just because. We had alot of "just becauses" in our group.
I welcome all the new collectors and still try and give out some pins when I am in WDW, I still have lots of those trader pins left that no one seems to want anymore. They make great traders for the new or young trader.
So, if you are one of the old ones say hello, and if you are a newer trader welcome, and enjoy pins. I did and still do..

Yes I remember all that.

Sure do miss it too.

Hope to see you in WDW real soon.

Ok Peggie, I blame my addiction squarely on the shoulders of you and ~Kathie - if it were not for those early pin meets in the Boston area, I could have survived! :lmao:
Those Thursday might pin chats were fun, when I could get into them. I have many wonderful pin people to thank for all the pins they donated over the years to make my student trips so enjoyable - Leslie, Debbie, the Parkhoppers, you (Peggie) and so many others. Would be wonderful to see some of us back on the boards. Pins truly brought so many of us together.
Thanks for the thread Peggie. Caroline

I rarely post on the DIS any more, but I just read this thread & couldn't resist :). I remember those Thursday night chats - how much fun we had!

Peggie, whatever happened to the others from CT? like Sharon & her three children?

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a wonderful spring holiday season!

I am still into pins... :sad2:
Hopefully some day we will meet up Peggie! :goodvibes :yay:
And JudithM -- isn't it about time for you and Beauregard to visit? ;) (twisting your rubber arm)
Did he ever find that hat? I was hoping he found it tucked inside something later.

I went to the DC Meet originally scheduled for a diner in Alexandria that had to move to the Rainforest Cafe at Tysons years ago. That was fun & went to some others. In February my whole family went to the most recent Parkhoppers' Pin Meet...I've turned my DH to the dark side lol, now he's an even bigger Pin Nut than me  .

agnes!
PS - We just got back from WDW & wow, did we pick up some nice pins, including all four(+ extras) of the new LE "Wanna Trade"s :teeth: .

No hat :( ... Oh, well ...

As for WDW, we would love to come down soon, but there is a four letter word called 'W-o-r-k."

It is nice to see so many of the old names... I to miss the pin chats...

I used to laugh when everyone would type sooo fast. I tried to keep up but was just too slow. Okay, no Kentucky jokes!

I miss you Peggie. I was in Epcot last Friday night and I actually looked for you in England!!!

Susan

Pin trading may wane but the friends are golden.
I really miss chatting with all of you but the pin frenzy has been less lately.

So much has happened. I have lost 70 lbs since 3/1/06. Blood pressure was too high. We lost my mother in law and her brother exactly one year apart. They both passed on February 10th. We are getting used to just being a family of 4, the girls are 19 and 12. I'm going to alot of concerts of performers I love. Getting to fulfill my fantasies.
Take care all,
Karin

I too miss the pin chats and all. I do occasionally read the DIS boards, but its just not the same. We do still collect and trade pins, but it seems like ages since Shawn and I have seen or talked to any of the old group. I will never forget the pin adventures in Florida, the many trades made, or the many new people we met.

Hi Peggie :thumbsup2

I can't seem to remember anything past woodstock so I missed a lot:rotfl2:

Something about boa's and Rockin Rollercoasters but thats it.

Ed or was it Raul??? Whatever!!!

Hi everyone!

We are still here, still trading, still going to events, still having fun. Ahh the old times. We were just down in WDW for my son's spring break and we were talking about the nights waiting out for a pin event. I showed them the spot where I spent the night in the Ticket and Transportation Center parking lot after getting in line outside the ticket booths at 7:30pm the night before. We talked about the great lines and pin trading with people through the night. How we could take a trip down to WDW for 36 hours from Maryland to meet a friend from New Hampshire to run in a mad dash from the rope drop at Epcot to Pin Central (avoiding the pigeons) just to get the new Pin of the Month! Ahh good times.....Found some pictures tonight from some of the old times..... may just have to scan a few and post them.....pin chats were always fun and I remember spending many a Thursday night typing away....

I remember those chats on Thursday nights. Rarely had much to do with pin-trading, but they were usually a lot of fun! :thumbsup2 I think it was one of the first pin events that actually got me away from the habit. Had a lot of fun with the Dis'ers that we met, but just got turned off by the "sharks" and the blatant commercialism of it all. Plus, it was kinda neat when there were limited numbers of limited editions. It made you feel like you'd accomplished something when you landed that "Holy Grail" pin you'd seen but never could seem to get your hands on. Now, there are so many that you almost have to specialize in a character or two, just to keep up. Just became too much like work and less fun.

I don't really hit the collector's board much anymore, but it's nice to see some old friends posting!

Hmmm maybe we could have a one time special pin chat....

Nat, that would be a great idea. Please give enough advance notice of the date and time,so that we can let everyone know. Caroline

I'm still around. Just don't post much. Life is complicated right now but I'm hoping things will balance out in the next year or so. Greetings to all my old pin buddies and hi to the newer collectors.

Looks like many of us are still around, even if we don't post much on the collector's board any more.
I get only a few pins now (very few) but I'm still a HUGE collector of all things Disney, and I'm going to WDW next weekend for the Teddy Bear and Doll Event (12 years going now!) I'm missing the Pirate event (sigh--couldn't make both of them work)
It's nice to see so many familiar names here.
