I was so proud of myself for getting the reasonable SW flight at the time we wanted, right when it came out this morning (or, as I look at the clock, yesterday morning!). Didn't occur to my sleep deprived brain to go back and book the hotel package immediately. When I confirmed the hotel choice with the family at dinner tonight and went back on line to book, the only rooms avail at AKL are standard - no more pool view room. :sad2:

I called, got a little excited when the CM confirmed that we had, indeed, stayed there before (as if it would help!), but to no avail. Only had standard view. We ended up booking the standard view, so at least we have somewhere to stay, but I've been a little down all night.

The CM did say to keep calling, as there might be a cancellation. Anyone have any opinions of the odds of that actually happening during free dining and the week leading up to Labor Day? Is a standard room really going to be that bad? We loved our pool view last time, but not sure how much of that was really the view, or the convenience to the pool, the bus stop, the Mara. The hold up this time was no bunk beds were available and we had a split decision as to taking the two queen pool view vs the bunk beds at WL.

After all that with the room, wasn't quite ready to make ADR's yet when I was on the phone. Confirmed everyone's favorites and what new places they want to try, called back to make the ADR's and found out the phone line is not available 24hrs (not sure if I'm remembering incorrectly, or if something changed). Now I have to wait until morning.

This is apparently what happens when you make a spur of the moment decision to go to WDW after finding out on 4/15 that you are getting a refund as opposed to writing a check to the IRS!

I guess I'm just venting. Any words of encouragement are appreciated.

Good morning!!

Dining reservations opens at 7 am-- a mere 39 minutes from now!!

The good news is that NO ONE ELSE was able to get the reservations you want all night either!!

So hang in there, go grab a cup of coffee, and good luck with your ADRs.

Morning as well. Make your ADR's & keep checking back or call to see if a pool view room is there at the AKL might get lucky;) Is there another resort you might like that is there? just asking. Good luck;)

Well, I guess the karma gods are smiling on me. Got all the ADRs we wanted, including Le Cellier. Maybe the pool view will open up after all. Thanks for the kind words ~ I'm feeling much better in the light of day!

At least you are at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Even if you don't get a pool view, enjoy the resort. Make a request to be as close to the pool as possible. Print out pictures of the Animal Kingdom Lodge pool and tape them onto your balcony door.

When life gives you salt, make a margarita.

You do want to keep calling but if you don't end up getting a pool view room reserved, a standard view isn't horrible. We stayed in one at AKL and it was in close proximity to the lobby elevators so we were quite close to the pool and the Mara.

If you don't get the pool view, then just make sure to request a room close to the lobby.

Hello, just putting my 2 cents in here.....Everytime that I have gone to Disney, (and trust me it's been alot), we have gotten a standard view room. I have never had any complaints. Now, maybe it's just that I don't know what I am missing or something  but, to me, it just seems like a few extra steps to walk to the pool, and besides, you are not in your room all day anyways, usually....that is just the way I look at it....:cloud9:

I'm with you on this one! I never spend extra on a room view. We're just not in it enough to spend $$$ on that. We much rather spend all that $$$ on a day at Discovery Cove!! :goofy:
