Thanks to a friend who works at the same company I do (just entirely different area so I can't exactly call him a coworker), I found a 29 gallon tank through the work classifieds (which I didn't even know existed) which is exactly what I was looking for! :D So, I'm thinking about it right now, trying to decide now that it's down to the wire, do I *REALLY* want this or not. But most likely in a couple of hours I'll be arranging to check it out in person and possibly bring home my first "big" (for me) aquarium! Largest I've ever had was a 10 gallon when I was about 7.

Just bought a 10 and 5 and I promised my husband I wouldn't buy another one until after we move in Oct. I Can't wait to get another one!!

Go for it!!:bounce: :bounce:

Sounds very cool, Tammi!!! I am sure you will enjoy it :)

I got it I got it! It was even nicer in person than it was in the picture. :D Not set up yet, nowhere near it, but it's here. :D The stand is downstairs and goes really well with our furniture. It would actually go better upstairs, but it's way too cold upstairs and plus I spend more time downstairs and want the tank where we can see it better. :D

Still gotta clean it (though it's really in great shape) and test it for leaks (neither my dad nor I expect to find them -- my dad went with so he could cart it home for me since it wouldn't fit in my car) then set it up. I expect the majority of that to be done this weekend. :D

But, I've got my tank! I'll share pictures when there's more to share. :D

Tammi, I've learned that a bigger tank has less problems. Also take your time as you set it up. Let the water sit for a few days. I know they have those chemicals to help get rid of the stuff you don't want, but time is usually better. :)

You'll enjoy it know.

I'll make no sandwich jokes. Congrats! Can my kitty come surfing?

Thanks Serena. :D That's what I've heard, too, and why I decided on the 29 instead of starting with a 10 or even 20. That, and it helps that the best (okay, almost only) used tank I could find was a 29.

It really is a nice tank. :D

What I plan to do is fill it with water tonight and let it sit in the tub until Friday at least. That gives over 24 hours to ensure no leaks. Then it gets cleaned out and taken downstairs and put on its stand. Then I'll fill it with conditioned water and set it up (filters running and that's about it) and start on a fish-less cycle (which means you manually add ammonia and allow the tank to go through its first ammonia/nitrIte/nitrAte cycle over about 2 weeks and that way the fish don't have to fight through it). That's the idea, anyway. Or I might try a fish cycle with 3 danios (the most highly recommended fish to start a cycle with), I haven't decided yet.

Aww, Pat. I'm surprised. :D Really, the sandwich jokes don't bother me. :D

Until I put the fish in, sure! :teeth:

LOL, deary it sounds like you know more about it than I do. :teeth:

How fun! I can't wait to hear about the different kinds of fish you get.:D

Sounds like a great tank. I always wanted an aquarium but my mom didn't want anything bigger than a goldfish in a bowl. Of course I always wanted a cat or a dog as well as a horse but never got any of them. Notice a pattern here???? lol

Heh.

If you're going to get something in a bowl, get a Betta instead of a goldfish -- betta are much better suited than goldfish, and really the betta have *excellent* personalities. I couldn't believe the personalities Betta have until I got one. Then I had to get another. ;)
